Well, I guess we'll just have to wait and see what transpires. Until then if you're all not busy, I highly recommend checking out the thread about "Disney's Legend of the Ring of Fire", the search has been pretty fruitful so far I'm thinking about joining in too.
Around how much text was in the game? Could you make choices like in a point-and-click adventure game? I ask because it could have been a visual novel, which is a type of game that was released almost exclusively in Japan. Visual novels have become more popular in the west, but there are tons of VNs that were released on PS1 in Japan.
No, I don't think it's it, because I have the game, and played it, and it's not what I'm looking for. The game I'm looking for (in my memory) Purely a town, and the bamboo forest.
You still have the game? (Or was that a typo?) Can you remember anything else about it's game play or art style? What other games would you compare it to? Knowing the answers to these questions will help me, help you find it.
I’m really, really want to watch this (and translate it), it looks hilarious! How did you find these screencaps? Knowing how crazy/awesome fan animation and doujinshi can be in Japan I totally believe this OVA exists. After all this exists too: www.youtube.com/watch?v=sVifha0K560
This has been a really interesting search so far, I hope I can help find more information about Sky Angel, Ella Flowers etc. After searching for “Sky Angel” on archive.org I found two court documents regarding the company. In the first court document “Kelly V. Sky Angel, Inc.”: archive.org/details/gov.uscourts.tned.53324 “Sky Angel, U.S., LLC, provides direct-to-home television service of multiple faith and family channels.”
In regard to my thoughts on the validity of JenkemChic’s uploads it’s obvious to me that they edited these video clips in some way but I have my doubts that JenkenChic created the original animations or audio. These clips remind me of other youtubepoop compilations/ “Everything is terrible” youtube edits. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that the audio comes from a different source from the animation, just because it seems so disjointed.
Anyway, the “Kelly v. Sky Angel, Inc.” court document goes on to state that, “The service is provided using a special set-top box, which sits on top of the television and is necessary to receive the transmission signal for the channels. Sky Angel does not manufacture these boxes and the boxes are owned and shipped to SkyAngel customers (along with various documents from Sky Angel) by a company called NeuLion.” So perhaps this could explain how JenkemChim got this footage?
I’m not a lawyer or judge so I’m totally unfamiliar with court documents, can anyone that’s more familiar with those types of documents look over “Kelly v. Sky Angel, Inc.” and the second court document “ Eachus v. Sky Angel US LLC” archive.org/details/gov.uscourts.scd.174105 and give their thoughts regarding what these court-cases against Sky Angel were about? Also, it appears that Sky Angel US LLC was located in South Carolina. Anyway, I hope we can find out more about what all of this even is, great job on the search so far everyone.
The closest thing I can think of is the show "Ghost Writer". Although, I don't recall a guy with a hook for a hand, the kids do eat pizza and the ghost often communicates through their computer. I hope that helps, good luck on your search.
I’ve been watching through the playlist of episodes I found on biibii, this is what I’ve realized so far after looking through the wiki page. Episodes 22 & 23 are still partially missing. Every episodes of Sagwa has two different stories. Only the first story “Tough Guy Dongwa” is on the playlist, so the second story “A New Cook in The Kitchen” is still missing. All of the “found in low quality” episodes are a camera recording on a tv, and seem to be the same uploads that can be found on youtube. The one upside of this playlist upload is that there are extras like the “what about you” segments [ www.bilibili.com/video/BV1bx41127wQ?p=75 ], an interview with Amy Tan (the author of the book that Sagwa is based on.) [ www.bilibili.com/video/BV1bx41127wQ?p=77 ] I also stumbled upon this Sagwa Chinese fan-blog: blog.sina.com.cn/s/articlelist_1627417234_1_1.html
After some searching it seems that all of the English dubbed episodes, including the previously missing episodes 38 & 79 (with some PBS bumpers) are here in great quality: www.bilibili.com/video/BV1bx41127wQ?from=search&seid=12960431040718768450 (To turn off the comments on top of the episodes click the blue toggle button beneath the player.)
After a quick search on dailymotion for アトミックベティ there was an upload by Ikki abe titled “Atomic Betty Pilot”: www.dailymotion.com/video/xoe1t I’m not sure if this is lost or not but I didn’t encounter it anyone else in my search, so I downloaded it.
I also stumbled upon a Japanese fansite, here’s the page about Atomic Betty, it has episodes summaries and even a list of what episodes are on the two DVD volumes that were released: loucartoon.gozaru.jp/betty/index.html
The person asking the question just got a part-time job at McDonald’s and is asking about if it’s okay for them to cut out the page or if they should make a copy of the consent form that they received and signed before turning it back into McDonald’s. The responder with the best answer (aaaaaa-san) responds that they just cut the consent form out of the book and submitted it to McDonalds. The last part of this response translates to: “You should also get one book per person, so the CDP is yours.”
Apparently the form is in an employee handbook called “Crew Development Program” or “CDP” I could be wrong but I assume that this book would have passwords for the training game.
I also found an active forum thread about this training game, there are a lot of screenshots and discussion about tying to reverse engineer this rom.: www.obscuregamers.com/threads/mcdonalds-ecrew-development-program-ecdp-nintendo-ds.1384/ There are two versions of the game, eCDP 9NTR-CRUJ-JPN) and eSMART 2.0 (NTR-TREJ-JPN) I really hope that at the very least someone will release the rom for this because the more people that can download it and try to gain access to the game the more likely it is the passwords/login codes will be cracked.
On a somewhat related note of limited time Japan exclusive McDonalds stuff; this video shows a wiki app that customers could access on their nintendo ds: www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9qDigQbJvI In the video a man records his Nintendo DS screen as he connects to the wifi app at McDonalds. It asks him to choose a nickname, but in his birthday and accept the terms of use. After he connects there are several different options to look at including news. He looks at a news article about Poke’mon and eventually goes to a pages with a CR code coupon for a happy meal “apparently it’s called a happy set” in Japan I had no idea… Tbh I haven’t had McDonald’s food in like 15 years. Although I’m not a fan of their food, I am interested in lost media, so I’ll do my best to translate what I can.
