You may already know about this case but if you don't I'll bring you up to speed. It is a similar story to TMMS.
in 1984/85 this song was recorded off of CFNY. A radio station in Toronto, Canada. Music historians and fans alike have been looking to identify it since. the song is known as "CIA", "Coming Home", Or "This Winter". And it is a very good song. It sounds very professional and finished. It was thought the song was "Coming Home" by an obscure Canadian band named 4th Floor. But this was proven to be a false lead.
I have spent hours upon hours scouring Discogs Rock/New Wave releases from 1980-1989 with similar names to "CIA", "Coming Home" and "This Winter" with no results... However, anytime I came across a possible song with no video attached to it, I messaged everyone involved with the release page, and not all of them have gotten back to me yet. So I'm still holding onto hope it's on there somewhere.
The song is thought to be Canadian in origin, I think it sounds French-Canadian personally. In my opinion this song sounds far too professional and finished to be a simple demo. There HAS to be a release and a name out there somewhere... If anyone at all recognizes this song or can help at all with identifying it, PLEASE let me know.
Okay so I just have to make a thread about this. I'm sure you have heard this song if you're into stuff like The Most Mysterious Song but In case you aren't I want to draw some attention to this mysterious song. Hopefully this will be found some day because I really like this song!
I found it on a channel that uploads unknown songs called Jay Kay. But the original video was posted 14 years ago. To this day nobody has figured out what this song is! It was recorded on tape from a radio station in 1980. It's a lovely ska influenced new wave song with a male singer.
"The Isle Of Rock N Roll" is a lost song. Part of it was used in the 1993 movie "The Skateboard Kid" it was written by Billy Coiffi and Freddy Cannon and supposedly is a full song that wasn't made specifically for the movie. However, the song itself doesn't appear to have ever had an official release that i can find. Despite the fact millions of people have heard part of it in the famous JonTron video covering the movie.
Hey everyone i was wondering if anyone knows this song. I heard it on a radio station today while i was out and about but didn't catch the title or artist.
The song was a slower mid tempo song with a kind of softer alternative almost folsky sound to it.
The lead singer was male and was singing something along the lines of "I don't have much time of/on my own" at one point soon afterwards he also said "but the time that i do have is yours"
He sung in a mid vocal range.
From the sound of it it's likely a 90s or 2000s alternative rock song. It's also likely Canadian but i just can't place it with any of the canadian 90s bands that i know of. Any ideas what this might be? I tried searching the lyrics but came up empty so far...

So far I've contacted Billy Coifi again and tried contacting Freddy Cannon. No answer yet from either and Billy has read my message. Seems he's not too interested in helping out... he did mention the first time i talked to him though that the song was not made for the movie and added:
"the music supervisor at Concord New Horizon pictures called me for some material"

Honestly, if this is somehow fake it is the greatest April fools prank ever concocted, because I have been thinking of this show since I originally saw it mentioned along with bedtime stories, works, artifacts etc, that would be an insane plant and I really hope it's not the case because I spent 4 hours today gathering information on Surprise Eggs lmao I don't know if I have ever seen the crtc logs be faked, has that happened before?
No idea if that's happened before. I imagine it's probably less likely though.
Unfortunately I haven't yet, I've looked on ytvs archive site in 2003, I've looked in episode archives, and have come out empty handed. my next plan is to look at advertising from that era and popular shows that aired next to Surprise Eggs filmed on VHS and archived, if there's any luck, something similar to Cush at the Library will happen and we'll get the first couple seconds or the last couple seconds, but it's such a long shot. I have looked everywhere I could think of to find any proof Surprise Eggs existed, but I'm struggling really hard to find something besides the episode logs, it's almost like a ghost.
Any chance it could be a mistake or a fake? I'm guessing that's probably less likely because this isn't from wiki but I don't know lol
around this time Ytv was heavily watched in my house but I have no memory of a show called "Surprise Eggs" so this intrigues me. I assume you haven't found any images of it?
Do you know if it appeared on any albums or was it just a one off thing?
No idea. Both writers of the song seem to have been in the music business for awhile but what's odd about this song is it's a bit different in style than most of their work from what I've seen. I was told it wasn't written for the movie but he didn't say where it originated from.
