You may already know about this case but if you don't I'll bring you up to speed. It is a similar story to TMMS.
in 1984/85 this song was recorded off of CFNY. A radio station in Toronto, Canada. Music historians and fans alike have been looking to identify it since. the song is known as "CIA", "Coming Home", Or "This Winter". And it is a very good song. It sounds very professional and finished. It was thought the song was "Coming Home" by an obscure Canadian band named 4th Floor. But this was proven to be a false lead.
I have spent hours upon hours scouring Discogs Rock/New Wave releases from 1980-1989 with similar names to "CIA", "Coming Home" and "This Winter" with no results... However, anytime I came across a possible song with no video attached to it, I messaged everyone involved with the release page, and not all of them have gotten back to me yet. So I'm still holding onto hope it's on there somewhere.
The song is thought to be Canadian in origin, I think it sounds French-Canadian personally. In my opinion this song sounds far too professional and finished to be a simple demo. There HAS to be a release and a name out there somewhere... If anyone at all recognizes this song or can help at all with identifying it, PLEASE let me know.
Looking through my messages now.. I sent a lot of them lol
The songs are: (and keep in mind these are just guesses based on the sounds and name titles and the fact they came up when I searched for various different variations of the believed names of the song),
"Winter In This Town" by Garden Bower, a Canadian alt rock band who self released an album in 1986,
"Coming Home Tonight" by Infantry, a U.S band that released an ep in 1987,
"Homecoming" by Shower Team, a Canadian new wave band that self released an album in 1987,
"Coming Home" by Cal Scott, a U.S artist that released an album in 1986.
"Coming Home" by Look Who's Talking, a dutch band who released a self titled ep in 1988,
"Coming Home" by The Switch, a uk band who self released an ep in 1978,
"Sunset In The Winter Time" by Pattern Play, a Canadian band who self released an ep in 1985,
I even looked into a song called 'Living In a Bunker" by Third Party, a Canadian band who had their song featured on a 1985 compilation called "Saskatoon Rocks".
It might be one of them, it might be none of them. The one thing they have in common is they are the only songs unaccounted for that came up while searching for the CIA song.

The video you posted explicitly says the song was recorded in 1984, so that significantly cuts down the number of songs to look at here.
"oooh, you're a- a freaked out child in the woods..."

The actual original upload says 1985 so that’s another option youtu.be/-Q46N3IYg0Y

Yup I know. But I considered the possibility of it being played on the radio in 1985 but not actually released officially for a few years. Not to mention some uploads say 1984, one upload says 'circa 1985'. So i went back some years and forward some years just in case.

I feel like going all the way up to 1989 is a bit of a stretch, though.

It is but like i said in the messages i sent to ppl on Discogs I'm looking under every rock I find.
Some more possible listings I came across that may be it if we can track them down: "Coming Home" By Steele, a German Prog Rock band that self-released an LP called Coming Home in 1983. "Comin' Back Home" By Michael C. Kirch, who self-released an album called 'Beginnings" in 1985.
As usual, I messaged those involved with adding these listings to Discogs. Hope to hear back from one of them. Unfortunately, the others listed before never got back to me...

A user by the name of MFJazzyCat got back to me about "Comin' Back Home" by Michael C. Kirch. He doesn't think it's the same song as this song was apparently only shared around the Delaware area. But he is going to send me a copy regardless if he can dig up his old copy.
"Future Coming Home" By Aislefive. A US-based artist who released an LP in 1984 named "Cause a Mystery".
I also discovered some songs by the band Garden Bower and it doesn't really sound like the same band. However, I could not find the song in question in the list so still might keep it in the list of possible ones.
On a side note someone in the YouTube comments on one of the uploads of the song suggested "Holy Road" by Daba Rojaba. Which was an obscure New Wave band from Ontario who won a battle of the bands contest. The song is even the same length as the C.I.A. song. The problem is it comes from a 1988 compilation album. However, upon further research, the band did exist prior to that so it is possible the song was around before that album. The lead singer of "Holy Road" is Jamie Oakes, Who did a live interview with an Ontario charity service that was posted to Facebook in 2021. I contacted the charity service and gave them my email. They said they would forward my request about the song to Jamie Oakes for me. I'm not sure why the song would be named Holy Road but it is the same genre, it is Canadian, Local from Ontario, there is potential it could have been around in '85, and it is the same length as the song so I guess we will see.

So Holy Road by Daba Rojaba can be ruled out. I got into contact with Jamie Oakes and he does not know the mystery song.
However, he did confirm it sounds like a Canadian production. I think that confirms that it is seeing as how he is a local Ontatio artist. If anyone would know, it's him.
I asked if he would spread the word to other local musicians he might know from the area. So hopefully something will come from this still.
Update: Finally heard "I'll Fly From Home" by The Missing Link. Yet another song to rule out...
Further Updates: Using the tags Rock, New Wave, and Canada I searched through every release on discogs from the years 1985 and 1984. This time, going by length instead of song title. It was quite the task. I still did not find it. So it either is
A: not on discogs,
B: Is one of the few similar length songs I couldn't listen to,
or C: Is not from 1984/1985/Canada.
