This post will probably not count for much, but why not? I've been doing a lot of personal lost media searches, not really involving the wiki or discord too much. I do want to try to do better with my contributions to the site though. I've been browsing through article requests a lot and doing research on some things. I've only actually made an article for one of those today, but I hope to be able to do more. I think if people are out of ideas they should also work on browsing through the article requests and getting things done from there. I mean they're requested for a reason, can't have them sitting there forever. Perhaps encourage more people to do this somehow, maybe in discord announcements or something. Just my few cents on the whole thing. Hopefully the idea could help get more things done.
Like Kobochat said, you can't force people to do anything. These sorts of things come in waves, users will come back and be more active when they're ready.
I'll be honest and say my activity on this site has nosedived because I'm not a fan of the redesign. The issues I brought up in February haven't been addressed (I'm not even sure some of them can be). The generic comments log is a problem I feel is instrumental in the site's sluggish growth. It's unruly to try and track where new comments are being posted now.

In all honesty, I've given up trying to keep track of comments for the moment. The only way to see when new comments on articles are added seems to be to keep a constant eye on each individual article.
What about "My Special Book" The lost Treehouse shorts. The forum thread has over 16 pages on it already with a ton of small tidbits of uncovered information and many open-ended leads.
Not really as open-ended as it may seem. You see, with one exception, we've gotten in touch with everyone connected to the show who unfortunately have no additional information.
As for my own personal opinion on the matter at hand concerning getting refocused and making the wiki more productive, I have two suggestions:
1. The wiki isn't big enough. We have too many dormant users. Something that needs to be done is an expansion campaign of sorts. I mean look at us atm. The majority of us are either from the U.S.A. or Canada. We don't even have much of a community (that I'm aware of) in Britain, a major English-speaking country, let alone non-English regions such as East Asia or the entirety of the African continent.
We need to advertise. Paris has been looking Rimini Riddle for how long now? I'm sure if we developed an Irish community for the wiki, the Rimini Riddle investigation would be much easier than it is right now. Even in countries where we do have a fair amount of users that use the wiki, how often is it that any of us actually meet in person? Even if we're extremely cheap about the matter and just post to Facebook advertising groups and the likes, it would still be more exposure.
I do agree that it wouldn't hurt to try to branch out, but trying to create a community based on a nation or language would be costly. I am currently on a site where it is split between English speakers and French speakers and neither communicate with each other.
Honestly in my opinion the Discord is just a bad way to search for media in general. In the forums information is focused on one post and previous post can be referenced, the discord is all one big thread that alot of posts get posted to and is really off topic. It feels like information can get lost easily.
The big searches happen naturally, no one knows what or when it will be. But their is one common thread between all the big ones, and that is the media is usually children's content (particularly animation) that has a mysterious past and is described as bizarre and creepy. Something that got banned from airing, something said to scare kids in their childhood, a suicide on a live news broadcast. That's what excites people and drives interest. The top search right now is for a Canadian kids show oddly with no clips known, but it has no interest for anyone outside Canada who watched it. It has a dedicated search but not that thing that will make it a major search. And most of all, it needs to be something the community can reasonably search and find leads for. It will happen again, we just don't know when.
Petition to rename the Lost Media Wiki into the random shows I remember from Treehouse TV forum

In those cases, it's really because it's looking into the unknown, trying to solve the big mystery, combined with the morbid fascination where we want to look away but we can't, which is similar to why people like horror media. As for children's media, these are things we grew up on, and they've often influenced us, so we want to know exactly why and how this happened (Sorry, couldn't help the psychoanalyzing). Really though, the big things that would have taken over the wiki like Clockman and Cracks and ADWSS would have been Doraemon and Sesame Street 847 (and Snuffy's Parents to some degree), which would have been a tad different type of search since they're known to exist and we know where they are, but it's legalities that stopped them. At this point, we'd have to 1) wait for their respective rights holders to decide if they'd like to release the, 2) have an inside with the rights holders to help persuade them to do number 1, 3) wait for them to become public domain (which is impractical), or 4) hope that someone posts them online somewhere and hope they're not discovered/discovered after they're already very widely circulated.

The thing that has kept me away from the forums and other social spots is just the amount of kids who are focusing on the wrongs thinks taking up a lot of energy. For example, I feel like any lost media related too SpongeBob just hogs a lot of the attention of the community when the whole day with SpongeBob got really big and people where going to get donations to pay some random guy to recreate a day with SpongeBob with no dam since that he or she could just scam them with anything just drove me away and go on my own crusades. Like others said I feel like what would get some people to come back and focus is another good hunt

I think that part of why there was so much focus on ADWSS was that a lot of people from outside of the forums/wiki joined in specifically for that, and then when it was over, they just left. That's not something we can control as much, and we can't control if they don't want to stay after it was done.

Something I believe would do some good for the wiki was if there was more content coming directly from the staff team. Whenever the new Lost Media Chronicles episode arrives everyone stops what they're doing at that moment to see the production for the level of quality that it stands at. I believe Randy is able to do this because of his long time as a member of the staff. I think people would love to see things like new LMW Retrospectives, articles penned by staff members, more frequent notice board posts, etcetera. A concept I had a while back was to produce a digital magazine which holds exclusive material in each new issue.

We definitely need some sort of community project. I don't know if a big search will do. However, the important thing here is making this a more tight-knit community.
I don't know if Dycaite can do more LMW retrospectives, so that can be done on a rotation. Put them on a dedicated YT channel.
An e-magazine sounds like an interesting idea. Although, wouldn't it take away from stuff like the notice boards?
When Paul mentioned articles penned by the staff, is it like lost media articles or is it more like a blog? (Again, a magazine kinda takes away from that idea)
More content from the staff sounds like a good idea, but the staff are, ironically, the people with the busiest lives outside of LMW

My general idea when it comes to an e-magazine is that it would be something entirely different from the notice boards. The notice boards are generally composed of updates. I'd like the digital magazine to incorporate things such as the staff members' perspective on recent events, possibly interviews with staff members so newcomers can come to know them better, future plans for the LMW, trivia, and maybe some exclusive articles.
When it comes to articles penned by staff, I just mean articles posted to the site by staff members. I think they produce possibly the highest quality articles.
I still think if there was more of an organization to the threads in each board it might help a little with the participation or interest in a certain topic.
For example I've been posting a lot in the Made in Point Richmond thread, but it's been a few days and now its already halfway down the page and threads about Minecraft Alphas, a laptop with old scripts, some Pig Pen game, etc are all before it- meanwhile they have nothing to do with animation or Pixar.
I guess what I'm suggesting is that there be more genre-focused boards similar to the categories on the main site, where people who are interested in a particular genre can just go to town without having to shift through stuff.
There have been many times before where I've either forgotten about threads or don't feel like scrolling through all the stuff I'm not interested in when I want to see what people are talking about in threads/genres that I'm interested in.
And in the case of people who might not know a search is going on, this would be a great way for extra exposure and could lead to certain threads getting bigger within each genre board, so we can have multiple "big" searches at once instead of just banking on a new ADWSS consuming the entirety of the forums.
I tried not to format that as a complaint but its just something that I've always felt the forums could benefit from, but I guess I'm not even sure if that's possible.
Having been banned from the server since April of 2017, I didn't even **knew** that the server was active while also turning into a wasteland full of shitposters and angsty men. This seems so disturbing now.
It's really sad how it has changed, I've noticed how it has died and it's a bit upsetting, i'm more of a lurker because I'm not good at finding lost media, but i'd love to help but idk how. I'm mostly ignored/shunned in there, and it doesn't help it's all about shitposting nowadays~
