Notice it says “remix” in the video description though.
Actually, an official extended version does exist (but that's not it). It can be found on the "Music from Doug" CD, which was a promotional item that was not widely distributed.

My bad. I remember there was a Big Little Story episode on YouTube about the guy who made Doug's theme and they show footage of him performing it live. Would that still be the rock version or an extended version? I'll try and see if I can just find the performance itself
Okay so this isn't the performance I saw (he was literally dressed up like Doug), but honestly I think this might be accurate? The only thing that I am weary of is that he adds a ton of "nananas" and it almost seems he does it to just add to the performance. But the nananas are where Skeeter appears, so maybe a few of them were originally cut? I mean who would notice that missing? youtu.be/F9r5ztsMUrk
(Sorry I kept posting this and somehow got the code mixed with what I was saying so now it's a separate reply)
Interesting, the intro itself is pretty long. So we can definitely infer that a part of the song had to of been cut at least. Although I am curious as to why this performance is a little different than the other one. I guess it's a different setup.
Interesting seeing how this thread blew up. If the live performances are indeed accurate, does that mean that there could have been MORE cut from the intro other than Skeeter falling? It seems weird that they would cut the full theme to 35ish seconds for the premiere and then cut five more seconds from it (Skeeter falling) for future airings. Again, this is very interesting...
Maybe we can contact the people who worked on Doug (animation, music and such) for more info on it or hope that Nickelodeon will upload it in the future. Or is that going too far?

I don't think it's too strange that the beginning was probably cut from the start to fit as a cartoon intro. But I personally believe the "nanana" part was cut from the original broadcast, and it could be because it was either too repetitive or that the intro was 5 seconds too long. Out of any of the parts in the music, you'd notice that cut the least, plus Skeeter makes his appearance and nobody would think twice about the continuity of the rope.
I am unsure, since the pandemic is going on I'd feel bad. Maybe scope out Fred Newman's twitter (if he has one) and see if he's active on it. He does seem very proud of his work on the Doug intro in interviews and such.
I was just watching the intro again when I noticed another possible cut. When Doug is floating away after seeing Patty, he goes to the top of the screen, ALMOST going offscreen, but then suddenly disappears, and that’s when Roger comes in. You can see it at 0:21 here: youtu.be/Hygi3PlZI0Y
Continuing from my last post, you can see that the picture is really grainy and dirty, like an old film, but when Roger’s scene comes in, it suddenly gets brighter and more clean.
Wow now that I'm watching it again I can see a lot of hard cuts, in particular the scene you just mentioned and the Skeeter scene. Told my friend about this and her response was that she remembered it and didn't know it was cut. I'm wondering if she's either having a false memory because she wasn't born yet when the show first aired, or if they possibly could have shown this possible longer version of the theme a few times?

I wonder if all of season one aired with the full theme (assuming this is real and not just The Mandela effect). I seems kind of weird that the original poster on Reddit would remember something so trivial from almost 30 years ago if it only happened once.
Or they showed it random, kinda like how sometimes you'll see the full version of The Fresh Prince theme. Maybe looking at original airings of episodes that have shorter run times?
Currently searching for 90s Doug airings on archive.org...any other places I could look for episodes?
Really hoping this isn't a Mandela effect kinda thing
The only thing I can think of is finding VHS tapes with the original episodes recorded. I kinda tried to look and see if maybe it's included on the DVDs, but nothing really says as much.
