Could you please send me the raw MIDI of your recreation of this song? I've been thinking of making a video of how the real song would have sounded, but it's a bit more difficult when you only have waveform audio to work with (though I am currently making a new MIDI of the song from scratch).

Well, thanks for replying and for the extra details. I've pretty much finished the melody on my take of it anyway (at least what I thought was the full melody, prior to when I heard how it actually ended).

Whichever version I use, I still need to add some extra instruments in, and maybe I'll add some vocals to it. This will probably take a few days or weeks though.

A few things: The penultimate verse is kinda tricky. It starts in D or Eb Major (can't recall which)... might have been the "leap" verse, but not entirely sure. But after halfway into it, however, it abruptly modulates into E Major and switches to "jog". And the moment the singer sings "...it turns into a walk, the piano plays 3 quarter-note triplets on a V7 chord, or some funky jazzy variation thereof, before glissando-ing to the bottom. In your cover, "jog" was a full normal verse in C Major, which is not accurate.

Also, be advised that the piano part in the original is completely separate from the original vocals. That is, the piano didn't simply double the singer's notes; rather, it had its own separate line. It had its own jazzy flair, which differed, like, every verse, and was so complicated I haven't memorized it (save for a few bits, such as the ending).

The piano part was independent of the singing part. They were two separate things. But I don't remember the actual piano part because it was jazzy and complicated.

Also, it seems like I made a mistake in my version. I accidentally transcribed a tonic chord in measure 7 as a first inversion chord, like this:
