Have you still not considered contacting the school? Just thinking it would be a good idea if there aren’t any leads.
I don't think it would be awkward. Worst case scenario: they don't know what we're talking about. It's not like they would get mad. Especially since OP is a former student.

There's a possibility that it might be a rewrite of some other song. GeorgeT3 likely thinks so too, as he posted this on the WatZatSong page for the song:
Reminiscent of a children's song but the words were different from what you heard.
Maybe if you can reach him out, you can ask him for the lyrics of what he remembered, and maybe that can form a new lead to finding the song.
Furthermore, while unrelated to the topic but could give some plausibility to my theory, I have heard about a user who commented on the Floppotron's cover of the theme to "The Addams Family" that he remembered a song he learnt in kindergarten about the days of the week, using the aforementioned song's melody. Yes, really.

I actually remember a days of the week addams family song too, in addition to a months of the year song to the tune of the macarena. We used to do those every day in addition to some song called hello neighbor or something lile that

Being a former student would probably make it worse, since the person he emails might have a memory of his name. What he was probably trying to get that is that it would be embarrassing, not that anybody would get angry at him. OP's probably in his mid to late 20's now.
But on the other hand, OP's already started this thread and has shown himself to be quite invested in this song, so there could be the perception among board users that he's too chicken to pursue his leads. Quite the catch 22 he's gotten himself into.

So somebody else remembered a different song to another tune. What's that supposed to prove? It's already common knowledge that you can use simple melodies for educational purposes, from "Pop Goes the Weasel" (the quadratic formula) to "An der schönen blauen Donau" (the German dative prepositions).

I think the best option is to contact the school, or if possible, contact the teacher that would play the song. I can see how it might feel embarrassing to do so, but in reality the worst case scenario is that some teacher you will probably never see again for the rest of your life thinks it is a bit strange. If you explain that it is a song you heard a lot as a child and you have been trying to find the same song without any luck, it really isn't that weird that you are asking about it. After all, you were a student there, you're not some random person.

Seconding this. Honestly, there are so many of my teachers who would be very pleasantly surprised to hear back from one of their old students after all this time.
"oooh, you're a- a freaked out child in the woods..."
If you explain that it is a song you heard a lot as a child ... it really isn't that weird that you are asking about it.
I'm not so sure about adding this part. It's not really necessary and it sends the wrong vibe. It's like you're trying too hard to explain or defend yourself, which projects a lack of confidence.

I've actually heard variations of that theme in preschool/kindergarten many times, both as "Days of the Week" and "Rhyme Time". But "We're Gonna Walk, Walk, Walk" is assuredly NOT like that.
Also, I'm a senior in high school who's like 2 weeks away from graduation.
