Hi LMW,
A post was recently made on r/tipofmytongue concerning a commercial that aired, according to the OP, in 1999. The post in question is here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/tipofmytongue/comments/j9xmxy/tomt_commercial_1999_demon_candy_commercial/
This triggered a memory of my own - I've not seen this commercial myself, but it's been mentioned on that subreddit at least once before in the last three years. I spent ages digging this up (Reddit search function is awful) but I managed to find another user describing having seen the very same thing in 2000/2001:

The same user also posted in another sub, though it was removed. The post and comments can be viewed here:

In the replies, other users mention having seen this commercial and one thinks it may have been part of a series (with a similar commercial taking place on a plane).
The brand, however, is unknown. One likely candidate seems to be SnackWell's, who have/had a product on the market called Devil's Food, but their campaigns from this era that I can find don't match this style at all. There's every possibility that people are simply misremembering the product being advertised, but I'm fairly confident it's a protein bar of some kind because the general consensus and "plot" seems to tend that way.
It also gets a mention on the TV Tropes "nightmare fuel" page, which basically just further confirms what other people have described:
There was a commercial for a carb bar, and it took place in a baby shower. One of the women in said shower offered the pregnant woman some cake, to which the pregnant woman declined, instead sticking to eating said carb bar. Then, without warning, the face of the woman who offered the cake went all demonic and scary. Also a case of What Were They Selling Again?, as absolutely no one knows the name of the carb bar being advertised.
I can confirm that it is not the Eggo "monster girl" spot, the NutriGrain vampire commercial, or the Snickers Halloween party spot. The Eggo spot is well-known and doesn't feature adults/a party/a plane, and the latter two are from the 2010s.
The commercial was seen in Texas and possibly Quebec, which lessens the possibility of this being a local spot or something with limited syndication.
I'm very interested in finding this because it's clearly left a mark on a number of people, yet doesn't seem to be infamous in the same way that a lot of "scary" commercials wind up and nobody can remember what it was for. Any leads would be appreciated. I previously posted this in the "lesser known" forum, but it might be better suited here now that I've found more accounts describing it.
UPDATE 1 (05/11/20) - I have reached out to the participants in the earlier threads, and so far only one has responded. However, said user was able to confirm that the channel was likely Comedy Central and the location they saw the commercial in was New York.
UPDATE 2 (06/02/21) - We have ascertained that this is most likely a commercial for a carb/health product than the more energy-tailored protein bar that some have suggested. Be sure to check out the most recent posts in this thread since new details and sightings have emerged.
I have also created a YouTube playlist with commercials that have been eliminated from our search: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwIfkyNmR_SQonrt_FgR6T_z8-cMUEcSF
