Alleged Lost Pilot to Ed, Edd n Eddy

I think I've seen something vaguely similar to this before, dunno if it was called 3 dudes tho.

It could be 3 Friends and Jerry.

I'm glad there's actual substance and evidence to this thread, instead of it being some crazy fan theory.

I did a quick search and (obviously) came up with nothing, but would be very interested in digging deeper and finding out more.

Alright, so I have QUITE the bevy of information for you guys from 13 hours of searching across the depths of the Ed Edd n Eddy fandom. I'll give you the whole story for dramatic effect, and because it's pretty interesting- plus I think it acts as thorough evidence for what my conclusion is (which is at the bottom if you don't care about the search, but I want to put everything here for documentation).

THE SEARCH & WHAT I FOUND:

The first thing I did was the obvious- searching for word combinations of "3 Men", "Comedy Central", "Ed Edd n Eddy", etc.......I found nothing.

Then I took a closer look at the OP. I realized cylenk mentioned finding all of this information on fansites, forums, and wikis. That meant I had to find the online communities for EEnE, which was no easy feat. While a lot of fansites have surprisingly been backed up by the Wayback Machine, in most cases I couldn't navigate very far into them before the archived pages stopped, or with what information was there.....NONE of it mentioned 3 Men at all.

I was frustrated at this point because I felt like I was at a dead end- if the fansites don't have info (or if they did and from being so old it's gone now), then I wasn't going to find proof or disproof....until I had a revelation. cylenk ALSO said that he was finding this stuff around the time of Big Picture Show's release, which was 2009.

I have no idea how I put this together, but 2009 for some reason equaled FORUMS. If there were going to be people talking about this, it HAD to be from the forums back in 2009ish.

So I went back through ALL those same sites trying to find their forums. Some sites didn't have forums, some sites forums were totally gone....and some sites HAD forums. There were 2 big ones.

The first one was 3eds. Apparently back in the day, this used to be the best EEnE fansite out there- and for good reason. Their forums were packed with multi-page threads of pretty much every topic imaginable, including a "Canned Episode" thread (or something to that effect). There had to be mention of 3 Men in this thread- it had 4 pages. SOMEONE had to bring it up. So I read through the first page...nothing. I click the second page......doesn't exist. Yep, so only the first, or in some cases, second pages were backed up, but nothing beyond that.

Luckily, the EEnE wiki said that 3eds had actually spiritually succeeded themselves on a website known as Zebunker. So I check out that site's forums, and it was pretty basic and barren. Not of any help. I thought I was done on this pretty empty site as a whole until I find a Discord link. I assumed the same people who used to be in the 3eds forums had to be there as well, so reluctantly I go in.

Sure enough there are EEnE fans from 3eds there, and I bring up the question about 3 Men. Much to my surprise, the 4 or so people I talked to about it have never heard of it, and we just kinda go back and forth talking about why or why not it could or could not exist. So that's fine, but I wanted some more concrete evidence either way.

The second forum was Earth to Edd, still completely accessible and surprisingly active. There was a decent amount of fan knowledge on the site, but despite scouring the whole site, there was only ONE mention of 3 Men, and it was in passing on a thread for a fake episode. Regardless I assumed people on the site must have been familiar with it if it was a.) brought up, and b.) no one quoted that one guy on it asking "what is that?".

So I made an account, made a thread, and got a few replies. Yet again, almost no one has heard of it, so there isn't any concrete information about it to pass onto me. I thought the search was over at this point....but there was one more stop.

Someone on the site forwarded me contact information to a guy known as AnimatED, who allegedly had extensive and deep knowledge of the show. So I used one of the links and send him the spiel about 3 Men and what we know about it. This morning I got a reply.

Essentially he says he's never heard of it, but he advised me that it's safe to say any rumors of a lost EEnE episode in such a manner as this are most likely not true. Not only because of, I guess, what he knows about the show itself, but also about Danny Antonucci himself, and his company AKA.

The 90s were hectic for Danny and AKA; he was did many different shows, including work for MTV (not Comedy Central). Plus, Danny claims that Ed Edd n Eddy was created on a dare that he "couldn't make a children's cartoon", and the Eds actually evolved from a concept he was working on for a commercial of all things. He further states that the Eds were pitched to Nickelodeon before being pitched to Cartoon Network, of which they picked it up right away- and this was in 1996.

CONCLUSION:

Based on EVERYTHING I just covered above, I absolutely have to go with what my sources say and that's that 3 Men doesn't exist as an Ed Edd n Eddy precursor. Let's look at the big facts:

-All mention of 3 Men from old archived fansites is nonexistent

-Active members of old fansites have never heard of it

-Danny was busy in the 90s and making a failed pilot wouldn't have made sense or fit into the timeline.

And there you have it. I don't mean to throw you under the bus cylenk but I can't see this being a true "precursor/lost pilot" to Ed Edd n Eddy. I'm not sure exactly which fansites you were looking at back in the day, but I must have checked a dozen if not more, and the information is just not there. And if it was once on the EEnE wiki.....maybe it was just a ruse that got out of hand.

Think back to KaBlam Episode 29. Totally fake episode. Yet there were dozens of people who were sure it existed and that they saw it. If you saw this info around 2009 when you were 11, that means it's been 7 years which is a ton of time to pass from when you originally saw something, especially if you were so young at the time.

I'm not sure what this "3 Men" show is, but it's either something unrelated to EEnE that people maybe thought was related, a huge ruse that people perpetuated to keep EEnE alive (2009 was the shows end- makes some sense that a "lost pilot" would come forward at this time), maybe some other Danny or AKA project from MTV that for remembered incorrectly............or maybe something totally different.

But until I get some hard evidence or proof otherwise, I can't say 3 Men exists (at least as an Ed Edd n Eddy precursor).

Actually now that you mentioned fan fiction, that reminded me of how Angry Beavers "Cuffed Together" and Kablam Episode 29 were both fan fictions believed to be official episodes.

I totally didn't even think to check out fan fictions on any of the old sites, but considering these other two cases, I feel like that's more reason why it could have been a fan fiction.
