Okay, officially debunked. On Kevin Lordi's (AnimatEd) blog there's a screenshot of Antonucci responding to the 3 Men video stating "The Ed-Touchables" was the only pilot the show ever had.
Ah, well ya don't get more hard evidence than from the big guy himself. Pretty disappointing, but 3 Men definitely would've been a super interesting thing to see.
It's pretty cool to see all the repostings of my video; I didn't even know AnimatEd knew of it.
Though at the same time, without giving the reposts context it looks like I'm just some scrub who is trying to perpetuate that there's a lost pilot called 3 Men out there lol.
Still cool my search reached as far as it did. It was a really fun topic to cover.
FWIW, I was a member of The3Eds from 2008 until its closure and I very specifically remember this hoax (there were a LOT). It sprouted from some shitty Wikia and AnimatEd back then affirmatively said "this doesn't exist". He had contact with a few AKA Cartoon staff and I'd put complete weight into his word.
Word-of-mouth isn't too useful most of the time but there's no real way to debunk this.
This would also explain the passing mention of the hoax in the Earth 2 Edd forums.
I understand the show has no pilot at all: in an article written by Linda Simensky (then executive at Cartoon Network) in 1999, she said they were so enthusiastic by the initial pitch (a drawing of the titular characters with the tag line “they are friends because they have the same name”), they started producing it immediately without a pilot. Read it here.

Same with King of the Hill, Mike Judge didn't want spend months of time and lots of money creating a pilot, so instead he submitted a pencil test of the characters pitching their show to FOX and it worked and got the show greenlit so there is no official King of the Hill pilot as a result.
