I think it is time for me to bring light of this and for LNW users to notice. The existence of Saki Sanobashi is currently unknown, as the first mention about the anime was from a 4chan thread. I am aware that 4chan isn’t really a creditable source at all, but some strange stuff that may be considered fiction until its existence was found. I.E example, Clockman. There are people who did posts and videos who have done better explanations than I would’ve imagined. In short, the anime may have been produced in the 80s about girls who are stuck in the bathroom without any exits, and as days went by, the girls end up committing suicide in disturbing ways. Here are posts in r/lostmedia, r/sakisanobashi, other threads, and YouTube videos for you to check out, as people are curious about if its existence is true or not. https://www.reddit.com/r/lostmedia/comments/ahk64c/searching_for_go_for_a_punch_an_horrifying_anime/ myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1812212 www.reddit.com/r/SakiSanobashi/ archive.4plebs.org/x/thread/16266756/ m.youtube.com/watch?v=VdUOBz5QYhw m.youtube.com/watch?v=RIlL_YG0jnM m.youtube.com/watch?v=0hkiAipyeeE m.youtube.com/watch?v=dEPveDQXNXg
The supposed OP of the saki sanobashi story came forward saying that it wasn't real, he had just made it up and hadn't expected it to get so big. Of course, we don't know for sure if he was even the real op but just something to keep in mind. I'm not able to get the link to the post at the moment, but you can find it with a quick search. (something like, "saki sanobashi fake" and the reddit post should pop up)
However I Wouldnt Recommend Going To The Subreddit It Seems That All Shit Has Hit The Fan There, I Still Think That There Could Be Some Truth In This And That This Might Be Real However It Isn't Looking Good For This.
I might be mistaken, but I remember that even after the supposed OP addmited it was fake, some people got commited to turn Saki Sanobashi into a real thing

Yea, but I've also heard that the OP was debunked? I don't know if that's true or not but there is a group wanting to recreate saki/are in the process of recreating it

Forreal? So it means there's a slight chance that the OP is fake! Although I think it's kinda unlikely because he has a detailed answer for almost every question in his post.

Apologies in advance for the thread necromancy, but I've got some good news to share about Go For A Punch that more or less changes the game.
The guy who claimed he was the OP more or less has been debunked, but thanks to him he pretty much demoralized the search and convinced everyone that it's a fake and making lost media purists seethe
A lot of newer evidence has been discovered that indicate that Go For A Punch is real (or at least, was real at one point) that has been found through archives of old websites. Some of them are from the Wayback Machine, others are deep web archives that are harder to find.
One of them was a hentai website from the early 2000's called "Dark Anime", and there's also a screenshot that gives a release date of 1986 and imply Go For A Punch was one of those non-indicative English titles that were common for fansubs and small-budget releases in the 80's and early 90's, while the gibberish title of Saki Sanobashi is likely a misremembering of Saki-san No Bashitsu
The screenshot is for a video player but the video is obviously missing and it looks legit, as seen by this YouTube video.
There's a new subreddit that's dedicated to the new evidence and potential leads discovered from August 30, 2020 onward called r/SakisanNoBashitsu since the original subreddit became flooded with trolls and memes thanks to the guy claiming he was the OP.
I'm not sure if I can link the subreddit itself since some of the threads on this subreddit are NSFW.
Really, I think Go For A Punch is a lot like Him (the lost 1974 gay porno) where the premise seems to be ridiculous by modern standards and feels like a hoax and a lot of people are convinced it was a fake but then its existence is confirmed but the actual footage hasn't surfaced yet.
Everyone was convinced Him was a hoax until the author of the Golden Turkey awards clarified that it was not a hoax and then some old newspaper and magazine ads from the 70's were discovered along with a few print reviews. I think Go For A Punch is in a similar position now with archived material confirming its existence and the reason people think it's a hoax being debunked.

I'm glad you mentioned the new Saki sub since I was just about to throw a link up. I'm curious to see how this search goes since it seems like they're doing a good job with updates.
The guy who claimed he was the OP more or less has been debunked
Evidence for this?
I provided the evidence that Go For A Punch exists with the video where the guy tests the archived web page to see if it's an actual defunct video player or a fake screenshot and proves that it actually is a real archived webpage with a video player (and a deleted video) which should be enough to debunk the guy who claimed he was the OP.
Plus, we've got nothing that the guy on the original subreddit said that could concretely prove he was the OP of a years old 4chan thread either. Other threads have been made by similar nobodies claiming they were the OP and were lying about it being fake. At this point, I think people want to believe Go For A Punch is fake and dismiss any possible notion of its existence.
For more details, the last three or so episodes of Media Adaptation's series on Go For A Punch (39, 40, and 41) covers the recent discoveries in detail, as do the users at r/SakisanNoBashitsu, who can probably explain a lot of this better than I can.
They've got several threads explaining the newer discoveries and the Dark Anime potential leads though some of the threads are NSFW, so be forewarned. The subreddit itself is listed as SFW with the NSFW threads requiring a warning tag and spoilers
There's also a few leads about some smaller Japanese studios from the late 80's and 90's that specialized in extreme gore horror and adult movies, both live-action and animated. A commonly recurring set of company names are Film Corps or Dream Film Corps
Much like with the earlier lost media example Him where the premise seems very ridiculous to modern audiences and the guy who first publicized the movie mentioned a hoax, a lot of people dismissed it as a hoax. But that movie was real (even though it's still lost as of 2020) and that kind of thing was not uncommon for that genre at that point in time (Wakefield Poole directed a porno film with Biblical themes in 1975, although it was a straight movie about famous couples from the Old Testament like David and Bathsheba or Adam and Eve)
Same goes for Go For A Punch, where graphic violence and gore was a popular subject in low-budget anime OVA's and hentai OVA's. A lot of obscure material came out in the "OVA Boom" of the 80's and 90's, many of it did not make the jump to DVD and even more didn't get a proper release in the West, although bootlegs and fan subs did cross the Pacific at times.
The person who provided that Dark Anime page said it was archived in 2013. The problem there is that Streamable didn't launch until 2015.
It could be possible that it was archived in 2015 and they mistyped it as 2013 in their post.
With these new leaks, I think Occam's Razor very much works in favor of the OVA having existed at one point.
Which makes more sense? That someone went above and beyond to create a fake screenshot of a long defunct obscure hentai website and made sure the page had access to Streamable just to maintain a long-running online hoax or that the archives were probably from 2015 and the guy who provided the page mistyped the year as 2013 when they made a Reddit post about it.
Also, I think that some of the Dark Anime stuff was also backed up on some defunct guro website from Brazil as well, especially the screenshot in question. I could be wrong on that one and I'll be sure to double-check.
Keep in mind that while the earliest thread on 4chan was in mid-late 2015, it was extremely obscure and forgotten until Justin Whang did his video in 2019 and the story blew up huge.
I'm honestly convinced that a lot of people are insistent that it's fake that they'll ignore or nitpick any possible actual evidence of it and cling onto a dubious anonymous Reddit post as proof of it being a hoax.
Again, citing the parallels with Him, I think a lot of people dismiss Go For A Punch as a low-quality creepypasta on par with Squidward's Suicide or Dead Bart but it actually sounds like the kind of surrealist one-shot "tits and gore" OVA's that would've been fairly common during the OVA Boom in the 80's and 90's, especially in the horror and hentai genres.
There's also a few leads about some smaller Japanese studios from the late 80's and 90's that specialized in extreme gore horror and adult movies, both live-action and animated. A commonly recurring set of company names are Film Corps or Dream Film Corps
Would you happen to have more information on the potential studio names? Has the actual spelling of the company names been provided or suggested? (like katakana, romaji, etc.)
This fascinates me. I would like to use my Japanese knowledge to look into any possible animation studios further.
There are a few things I could try and do with this information. One would be to try and contact anyone associated with these studios if I am able to locate and contact anyone. I would also like to search the Japanese copyright database for anything associated with these studios.
Guys, I’m all for a mysterious lost media search; but since the OP said it was fake…. I just don’t want us going in circles; searching for something that never existed in the first place.
I know people like to compare this search to Clockman/Cracks, but those searches were tied to something that could confirm it’s legitimacy…ie Pinwheel or Sesame Street.
This, to me, feels like another Candle Cove/ADWSS search in the making; something that turns out to be non-existent the entire time.
