I remember back in Grade 2, back before they made the big change from clunky windows computer towers to chromebooks, our elementary school had a big computer lab. I remember going online and playing a flash game called Mutilate a Doll 2, which was basically a more primitive version of People Playground.
I swear that those "primitive" online games had more character than the generic gazillion mobile games we see today. Especially the ones just made for giggles by random people.
To be honest, I liked Mutilate a Doll 2 more than People Playground. I played it a lot. The physics were really fun to play with. And also the graphics were clean and easy on the eyes.

One was stick death dot com. I went on to see the stick death animations, gifs and play stick death games. I brought in floppy disks and used to save the stick death gifs and animations onto them.

Hey this is sadly much more recent, but I actually e-mailed a Youtuber a very heartfelt e-mail about the impact they had on my life....Then realized that that e-mail is a "business/professional" only e-mail address, and was even noted next to the e-mail address itself in the Youtuber's profile. I have no idea why I never noticed that. Sorry to hear you got a more extreme response though! Accidents happen. Haha I've heard of the stick people craze. Didn't get to be on it because my school didn't have the infrastructure for it, and we barely used computers period. The library had computers, but my parent wouldn't let me use those. I think it's funny that you still used floppy disks to store stuff! I think even my family had switched to CDs by then. And GOD I remember the "I'm on the phone, you can't use the internet." My parent used our phone a lot, so needless to say, that cut into internet time a decent bit. Heck, I don't think I could even use it every day...I want to say I got it like 2-3 times a week. I think that was more of an expense and phone thing than anything else tho.

There was a website, dxediting.com where you could find fan made mods, patches, tools etc... for the game and other things related. It's so interesting to compare experiences! And yeah, I have no idea why we were SO patient when we were kids/teens/young adults with the speed of webpages, or how long it took to load anything, or how we had to WAIT for the chance to use the internet for basically anything. I guess the novelty was enough to withstand it! And downloading files....PHEW. It was always such a risk if you would brick the computer, and/or if the file was even what you wanted. Heck, one of my favorite memes is like in memorium to one dude whose mother picked up the phone in the middle of his 9+ hours of downloading a Metallica song, and he had it down to like the year, day, and hour that it happened XD
Yeah I was honestly shocked that stuff like emulators, ROMS, and modding even happened in the 90s. I first learned about that in a video on unlicensed anime games, and like one of them was mentioned as being dumped as a patched/modded SNES file online "in the 90s." Like wow!!!! I had no idea.
I was able to sneak SOME more computer time when I was older, but as in a lot older. I would try to go to the computer lab during lunch for like fifteen precious minutes of online time (cram down my lunch in 10 minutes after rushing back to the lunchroom), and I also lucked out later and got involved in clubs/activities/carpool demands which meant I could also sneak some a bit more time there. I got more free reign of the computer near the very end of high school though, and my parents seemed more lenient too (though I don't know if they MEANT to, I would spend the time they were on my siblings' million activities LOL). Also they didn't seem as worried about internet bills anymore. Some really good memories there.

I too had to deal with the trials and tribulations of dial-up internet, I still remember the dial-up noise and how long it took to connect, we had that from the late 90s until the late 2000s until finally our original ISP stopped offering dial-up(or something like that, don't remember the exact details)and we finally got better internet which was a huge relief. I remember having to get off when my mom had important calls to make. I never even attempted to download anything for fear of accidentally downloading a virus or something like that(my mom had already had to deal with Trojan viruses from stuff I had nothing to do with and it wasn't like there was anything I really wanted to download anyways).

Haha yeah, I sort of became a quiz maniac on Facebook for bit, but then stopped when data collection scams (?) became a big thing. But still had some fun memories. Not familiar with Yahoo! Towers
I thought if you clicked on something too much, it would wear out. So I was super careful with my clicks, like they were gold or something. Had no idea how to copy and paste for the longest time. I literally wrote down URLs on paper and then typed them in manually every time. My first attempt at online gaming was a disaster. I didn't realize you needed an internet connection, so I spent hours trying to figure out why it wasn't working before my dad explained it. Gave our family computer a virus from downloading a ""free game"" that turned out to be nothing but malware. I panicked and deleted a bunch of random files, thinking it would fix the problem. It didn't. In high school, I used a song lyrics site to help me with a project. Got an F because the teacher found out I used a site known for inaccurate info.
