What is your main problem with the Lost Media community?

It's almost too fragmented. Everyone wants to find personal shit from their childhoods, and get disappointed when no one helps them because they're all busy searching for their own childhood media. Things get lost quicker and easier because of the internet. I know I watched plenty of YouTube videos years ago that are probably long gone by now. We just have to accept that modern kids' childhood memories are just going to be forgotten. Down the drain, if you will.
And everybody kind of has their own definition for what qualifies as "LOST MEDIA". Is it just stuff that isn't publicly accessible? Things that are long gone? Stuff that may potentially exist with no confirmation? Memories that may be falsehoods? Game prototypes - where do they fit in? Is something "lost" if it wasn't known to exist before it was found? So many questions like these have no proper common consensus on their answers. Thus, confusion abound.

There's just a lot of ballyhoo about nothing, most of the time. I literally don't care about some 10 second SpongeBob animation that aired once. It's actual garbage to me. I guess there hasn't been a big "connecting search" like Clockman or something to really bring the whole community together in a while. Any attempts at such have felt contrived. 
I also don't like the whole dark and creepy vibe that I see on YouTube. You're talking about Jimmy Neutron, not a mass murder. Jeez. And I know it's because they're just copying blameitonjorge. I guess we can blame it on him.

I don't know. I just wish that the kids in this community weren't so loud and naggy. I frequent classic cartoon circles, and we're the laughing stocks there. Because people can't just be patient. But what else can you expect from kids, eh?

Honestly, I've been here for a little while but I can see where you're getting at. I've learned a lot of things I never thought about on here, like websites to use and all of that. Helped me a lot with my search for a ROBLOX Youtuber who privated just about all of their videos. Not much has been resurfaced but I'm honestly quite happy with the results so far. I wouldn't have known if it wasn't for the help of other members.

Patience is key. Forcing people won't really get you anywhere. Honestly makes me wish I could help others more as well, just doing what I can with the knowledge I have.

As far as I know, when one topic is brought up, people quickly forget about it and move on to something else and won't remember any old topics until new information is discovered about them and/or are completely found.

Here's a few examples of lost media that people forgot.

People talk about SpongeBob lost media too often, or Nickelodeon for that matter. I only really care about Jimmy Neutron lost media since it had a very interesting history, and it's considered historical CGI too.
And on topic of historical things, it seems not many people here talk about those things. 

My friend talks about that version of the film. I have considered trying to look for it. I have just been way too busy researching DreamWorks lost media recently. I even found the source of your PFP when looking at portfolios.

I don't really think there's more that I can add that wouldn't sound like a repeat of other posters on here. So I'll give a general two cents:

1. I agree with the vibe here that some people are frustrated with the focus on animation/gaming that takes up so much attention on LMW, in particular things that are very difficult to precisely "find" (such as beta builds of classic video games), or specific lost media types that are overdone (such as pitch pilots). I don't find most pitch pilots to be particularly interesting unless it's something that's dramatically different such as Me and My Friends, Jimmy Two Shoes or MTV's Kappa Mikey. It's also one of the "easier" types of lost media to find as the contacts to reach out to are relatively narrow.

Some of these search efforts feel like long shots from the beginning. Like the hope of a beta build of a video game turning up is so slim, because while I find video game development to be extremely interesting (I modded Grand Theft Auto religiously for more than a decade), the reality is that these cancelled/heavily altered games likely won't see the light of day anytime soon when this stuff is prone to being deleted easily and/or can't be shared due to the nature of leaks. Look at Rockstar's recent leaks where an unfinished version of GTA VI was seen and code from the unannounced Bully II was leaked. I'm sure there are game devs who'd love to share "lost" video games but can't because of NDAs and being blacklisted.

2. I think everyone on this thread feels jealous that certain searches have garnered more attention than others, but at the end of the day, that's what makes LMW special. It's a place where everyone can look for what they want and organize searches with people that are mutually interested. What's important to me may not be so important to someone else - for example I'm really into sports media archival and I've seen others on here think of it as unimportant, and that's OK. LMW shouldn't focus on one area or another.

That said, one issue I do have with the community is that there's an obsession with "unicorn" searches. A Day With SpongeBob SquarePants was the most infamous one that set some examples of what not to do on a lost media search. Saki Sanobashi/Go For a Punch is another one; while it yielded better documentation of obscure Japanese VHS OVAs and the ero-guro anime subgenre in general, it was ultimately fruitless and people were seriously looking for something that was a 4Chan shitpost and to be honest, something that wasn't particularly insane (Netflix's All of us are Dead is pretty similar in concept for example). That's not getting into the other searches that were pointless from the beginning and did more harm arguably, such as Christine Chubbuck, Owen Hart, or LOLSUPERMAN. I get why people are drawn to these searches, but I think those that join this community aren't ready to accept that lost media is boring. What's likely to be uncovered/archived probably doesn't excite many people outside a niche. Some of these "unicorns" still draw lots of attention/trolls like Hitogata, the original Jeff the Killer image, etc.

3. I think categorization would do the community wonders when it comes to browsing on this forum. I see so many threads about commercials and YouTube videos from a relatively recent timeframe, and the latter I don't particularly care about. What is the consensus on discontinued snacks/food products, and what do we do with those "searches", do we try to replicate mockup recipes? Honestly, I do find it frustrating browsing through the Lost Media section for a potentially interesting subject, only for much of it to be made up of topics about bumpers or a YouTube video from 2019. I guess low-hanging fruit is the easiest to find, but I digress.

4. Outreach would probably be a good thing. Personally, I think the Lost Media Wiki should reach out to certain communities to participate more in search efforts for subjects that don't get as much attention on here. Music videos, sporting events, historical documents, news broadcasts, musicals, and different genres of movies are subjects where LMW Forum can improve on when it comes to search efforts. Raise awareness that there's an organization dedicated to finding lost stuff that people saw in the past but can't find it.

It would help with addressing the perception that this site is saturated with specific subjects - SpongeBob lost media, lost YouTube poops, lost Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon/Disney bumpers from the 2000s, lost pilots, etc.
