How are you recording this? I'm also looking to save some shows. in other words, are you hooking up a HDMI to regular red, white yellow cables? and how?
you can get an HDMI to composite cable or RGB cable converter or do an HDMI splitter
I've bought one before, but it didnt work super well, So I was wondering what exact kind he was using. But thanks though!
I animate, I collect VHS tapes, I breathe in and out and walk around sometimes
I wasn't so hot on it back in the day but I could see my opinions of it changing now. I wonder if anything Disney owns such as the DiC library is on the table?

I think WildBrain owns most of DIC's library now.

DiC was never fully owned by Disney nor did they ever produce anything. It was a limited partnership from 95 to 00 and it's now owned by WildBrain. Most of the shows that where animated where not made by Disney but aired on Disney networks afaik. It is now owned by WildBrain and they are a Canadian company and I don't think Weigel Broadcasting would buy up or partner with an international non America company nor do I think the partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery would be happy to have them because the massive amount of stuff that might fit the bill of competition from companies they currently competing with on TV.

I'm wondering now. I did notice that "Inspector Gadget" is part of MeTV Toons line-up and, according to many online sources, WildBrain owns the rights to it.

Wildbrain doesn't own much of DiC. The wikipedia page tells otherwise that it looks like majority of content is currently owned by other companies that picked up the license.

They have in fact got the rights to Inspector Gadget but non of the other licenses of Wildbrain and I doubt they would get anything that had aired on a Disney block or any Disney channel. Seeing as Inspector Gadget ran on CBS I can see how it was cheaper to get that show. I doubt most stuff made by DiC would get here unless it's owned by another company like how The Real Ghostbusters is owned by Sony Pictures Television.
EDIT: Most of DiC stuff is not owned by Wildbrain. Only specific shows here and there. A lot of shows are owned by other companies so they could possibly go that route.

How come most of their shows are on YouTube channels that are under WildBrain?

It's not most. It's some but if you can look at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_DIC_programs it shows who owns most of the rights currently and it looks like less then half the shows are owned by Wildbrain
EDIT: If it's a show on their YouTube I doubt that Weigel Broadcasting or Warner Bros. Discovery would buy the TV broadcast license rights.

Hmmm...I stand corrected. It's amazing to see that many of their shows are own by so many different companies.

Looks like Dualstar owns the rights to Mary-Kate and Ashley in Action still, in 2015 they apparently reached an agreement with Viacom to license out their entire library so that show could conceivably air on MeTV Toons at some point.
Don't know if we'll see any of DiC's anime dubs on there since Toei currently holds the rights, though i'd kill to see Knights of the Zodiac on there.

1. tape recorded via VCR hooked up to a TV tuner through composite (RWY) 2. VCR is plugged into a capture card (also composite) connected to my computer via USB 3. use XSplit to record what the capture card is seeing as the tape plays
