Unpopular opinion but I have some problems with the MCU. Since there are so many universes if a character dies they can bring them back at any time. This gets rid of any tension when instead of thinking "I wonder how this will affect the plot?" you think "wonder when they'll be back?" Just kill a character and keep then dead. If you're just gonna bring them back don't kill them at all!
most people may not agree but i feel like we dont need anymore ghostbuster movies
I agree lol
Also, we don't need anymore Despicable Me movies. Those movies, like everything Illumination poops out, are soulless, corporate kitsch. There have been a total of five Despicable Me movies (including the Minion movies) and there's a sixth one on the way, and the fact these movies have made BILLIONS of dollars at the box office proves that all you need to appeal the average American movie goer is some fart jokes and cutesy characters that can be turned into toys because the average American movie goer doesn't demand or want anything of substance from a movie, let alone an animated kids' movie.

I feel like the least corporate film they made (that wasn't Mario) was Migration because they tried doing something kinda original for once. All of their original movies are Despicable Me-based, or are something the general public likes. For example, what do a lot of people like? Pets. What's something else that a lot of people like? American Idol. They made movies based off of both of these things. I kinda wish they didn't have such stale ideas and they'd just do what Pixar and Dreamworks do and make movies based off of original ideas.

Even Pixar and Dreamworks are guilty of unoriginal crap. Sure, they don't, as you put it, just make movies about what the general public likes, but, and this ties-into the point of this thread, they have tendency to milk the crap out of their own animated franchises. Pixar could've easily ended Toy Story as a great trilogy, but no, they had to make Toy Story 4, and Lightyear, and now they have a Toy Story 5 in the works. And do I really need to remind everyone of how much Dreamworks milked the Shrek franchise? Heck, not only did they make a new Shrek movie a couple years back with Puss In Boots 2 (though, to be fair, while I haven't seen it, a lot of people seemed to like it,) but there's still rumors there's gonna be a Shrek 5.
Also, while we're on the subject of CGI animated kids' movie, we don't need another Ice Age movie. I like Ice Age, but did Ice Age 1 really need five freakin' sequels?!
Definitely Warner Bros with Harry Potter, seriously NOBODY was asking for those godawful prequels.
I heard somewhere that WB bought some of the rights for the brand. This is why newer products will have “Wizarding World” logos on them.
It has also lead to a huge influx of Harry Potter merchandise. I feel like I see Harry Potter junk everywhere. It’s up there with Star Wars with pointless consumer crap.

I would say "average global viewers" too. Because the Illumination movies also do GANGBUSTERS abroad. They are made to appeal to the widest demographic possible, and also draw in a lot of families which means $$$.
Not sure if true, but I had heard at a certain point, the Ice Age sequels were making most of their profit overseas, which was the main reason they kept getting made until Blue Sky was ultimately shut down.

I'm very mixed on the idea of a "new Harry Potter series." I mean, yeah, the movies are flawed and certain fans (like my partner) really want to see the books better adapted and more faithful to the source material. But I just don't have a lot of faith in modern Warner Bros PERIOD. And yeah every time I see yet more new merch, I'm like DANG IT, I just WISH I could love this thing as much as everyone else does <_< Ugh. I like HP fine, but I just can't LOVE it the way it is loved among so many.
Similar to how I feel about a new Eragon or Spiderwick Chronicles series. I initially had faith in the new Percy Jackson series (which NEEDED a reboot desperately IMO) and saw a TV series as perfect for taking its time with the characters and narrative But from what I've seen of it, it seems that Rick Riordan is just a better book writer than screen/TV writer.

They actually made another Ice Age movie after Disney shut down Blue Sky studios. It sucked from what I heard.

you could say that about comic books as a whole in general though.

that's cause it was originally meant to be a TV series but it had to be turned into a movie after the original plans fell through, so it's like Atlantis 2 in that it's made up of the most complete episodes of the show they had.

For Percy Jackson I think both the films and the show are pretty good, though i've admittedly never read a single word of the books and don't feel the need to as I just don't really have time to dig into massive novels like that anymore.
I like Spiderwick Chronicles series and feel bad it almost got canned.
Had no idea there even was an Eragon show, but after how bad the movie was I feel like that universe just isn't interesting enough in general.
Star Wars. Never really liked it in the first place. Space Balls was much more fun.
I find the original trilogy overrated myself and think they have just as much corny dialogue as the prequels(which I like more there I said it come at me SW fanboys).
