Anyone else "catching up" on their childhoods now?

Yeah "Sibling Rivalry" to be precise.

I didn't move away from saturday morning cartoons until 2006 when Yugioh ended and Pokemon switched from 4Kids to TCPI and moved to cable. After that I pretty much just watched animated shows on FOX and spent my saturday mornings playing video games instead as I wasn't really into the new stuff on Kids WB like Chaotic and whatnot and ABC Kids had largely become a wasteland at that point.

That's a very cool project! Regions got multiple console games based on their own media, their own original games based on outside media, different language games, PC games, online flash games. Super interesting to compare/contrast to American ones. In the 00s there was a small effort to bring a few European games to the US market (maybe on handhelds?) according to a magazine of mine, but not sure how successful it was. I only got to play a handful of flash games growing up, mostly kids station games like Fox Kids or Cartoon Network, but they still wildly nostalgic with that "old internet feel." And it would be fun to see foreign language ones!

Currently I'm watching another episode of a show that I remember from my childhood, but only watched like, 1 episode of back then. Chicken Town is some analog horror looking ahh show from France that was on Netflix here in the US at one point. The unexplainable & confusing theme song is just the tip of the iceberg:

Just try watching this without feeling like you're watching some super obscure Video Brinquedo film.

EDIT: I should add this warning; the show might be cursed in that the theme song will live rent free in your head for the rest of your life, so be careful here.

Yesterday I saw a movie that I hadn't seen since I was a kid-the TV movie "Fudge-a-Mania" based on the Judy Blume book "Superfudge". My first grade class was shown that movie and the weird part is they didn't use the official VHS release but instead a tape recording from TV as I remember seeing a McDonald's commercial on there and thinking "huh, I don't remember any of my movies on VHS having commercials in them" it was very odd why they didn't just use the official tape, maybe they couldn't find a copy or something. Anyways it was cool getting to see it again as fortunately someone on Youtube ripped the official release, can't remember if I ever saw any episodes of the actual show as a kid or not though, so far i've been able to find every episode except for 2x13 "Reversal of Fortune" of which so far only the first six minutes has been found, hoping a complete version turns up one of these days.

Yup, the same Netflix all these years ago had this show back in the early 2010s. Now-in-days people will NOT believe me at all because this show looks & SOUNDS more like a fake show from an analog horror series & it would be unbelievable even for a Tubi show.

If you think the show might make a bit more sense in French as it's from France? Well, according to The Dubbing Database & the 2005 pilot, this show was MADE IN ENGLISH FIRST & is a co-production with the United States, so yeah you are NOT getting answers from watching it in French. Even weirder(although for some it MAY also explain the madness) is that this is from the same French studio(Ellipsanime) behind The Garfield Show. Yes, the one with THIS:

Oh & if you're wondering, no, Chicken Town wasn't released before The Garfield Show. The latter came out in 2008, the former in 2011(despite the pilot being from 2005). That shows just how creepy the CGI looked even back then.

Oh, about The Garfield Show: I freakin' kid you not seasons 4 & 5 are filled with multi-episode story arcs: Yes, really. There's one about a witchery world & acquiring three magical items, there's one where Garfield is a pirate, there's one where Lyman finally shows up in a piece of Garfield media alive, there's one where Jon is framed for a bunch of crimes done by Ratzo & his gang of rodents, just pure insanity. Like IDK what got these folks to come up with such wild multi-episode story arcs for a show about a lazy cat who hates mondays. The recent CGI Garfield movie is TAME by comparison.

I lost cable in the late 00s and had to rely on DVDs or the internet. Luckily YouTube was filled with uploads of TV show episodes and movies at that time. It was so weird when I finally got cable back though in 2011/2012. I had known that many shows I loved had been cancelled, but I didn't expect the Nickelodeon to remove its splat logo, or Cartoon Network to have live action shows, or Toon Disney to get replaced by Disney XD. It kind of felt like some things didn't have the same magic because of that. Though I did think cartoons were getting better on CN and Disney. I hear the late 00s was kind of a dark age for American animation.
