Anyone else "catching up" on their childhoods now?

I actually remember seeing that film in theaters! Haven't seen it since then, but I do remember liking it quite a lot. Always wonderful to see that a film "holds up" still and can still be enjoyed as an adult!!!

On another note, have sort of gotten back into my "young adult/kids book" phase after I found a recent list of "iconic YA/kids books to read now." I had read 8/10 books they suggested and I kinda want to make it 10/10 now. I'm curious about these other books I missed out on, either they were somewhat after my time, or I just got bogged down with other things. 

Also, one of the first things I did as an older teen was read the Harry Potter books, originally my (super religious, conservative) parents weren't super cool with that, but they put up with it since I was "old enough" by that time, and another ultra religious, conservative family that we carpooled with (for a time) was SUPER into them.

I got into the Madeline books again when I was 18. It still influenced my drawing style A LOT.

It sounds hipster and I'm biased, but I haven't liked the trend of art in a lot of kids books recently. Not saying EVERYTHING has to look like a early 20th century watercolor pastel-y colored pencil-y wonderland, but it seems that the art of newer kids books just looks like it's copying the internet trends and styles. Might just be too old, or looking in the wrong places though. 

Very much so. I was very sheltered as a kid and am now in my prime as an adult and am trying to enjoy films and TV shows for the first time in my life.

Sorry for the venting but the age-labeling on the things I like makes me wonder could someone consider me to be within these age ranges despite being an adult?

When I went to the hardware store to ask for help mending my favourite rattle that broke (I eventually found replacements but it took a year of searching) I was just told it isn't safe for a baby...


I still enjoy the educational PC games, although the ones I find most enjoyable are the toddler/preschool ones (English/Spanish/Dutch (also Japanese if it exists and if so if I could find) I have no problem with. French and Portuguese I'm not good at speaking but I understood it. The Russian ones I only know few words). When I tried playing JumpStart 5th Grade I couldn't do the maths without relying on a calculator (I have dyscalculia)

I've actually had a goal to watch EVERYTHING on the Adult Swim lineup just because I wasn't allowed to watch it until...well PAST youngish adulthood. I lived at home for many extra years (sadly) and it was just so hard to sneak things. I was so fascinated by the AS programming but barely got to watch any of it, either due to lack of cable, parents not letting me rent the DVDs from Blockbuster, parent turning off the TV at night and that was IT...or all the above. Probably all the above. (Oh yeah, and also not having super reliable internet access)

So far, I've done a fair bit of Moral Orel (which hits pretty close to home), a fair bit of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and all of FLCL.

Ironically, the other flipside is catching up the "baby shows" my parent insisted I was too old for once past like age 11-12. Which is also ironic because I couldn't watch most "teen shows" or many adult-centric movies either. YEAH I missed out on a lot as you can guess.

My partner and I have talked about going through some other "educational games" at some point, especially those that had different versions, like different "point and click" games that did way better abroad. Kids games can be really fun for other languages especially. There's a certain charm to them no matter how old you are.
