Now that I'm older I'm watching many of the cartoons I enjoyed as a child to really appreciate them and understand better some of the jokes and comments that went over my head. My young little mind back then just liked to watched almost anything that was animated, especially if it had talking animals in it.

When Pepper Ann came out in 1997, I liked the series but watching it now as an adult I like it even more than back then.

Not to mention, Pepper Ann was bizarrely progressive when it came out with the way it displayed life as a girl and woman. Definitely a lot of admirable traits back in the 90s. Even the MC herself wasn't really a girly girl OR super rough "one of the boys" tomboy, just her dorky, wild, free-spirited self. She wasn't a checkbox or "boxed in character."

Of the cartoons that debuted that season as part of the new "One Saturday Morning" block in 1997, I thought that "Pepper Ann" was the most..."mature" of them all. That was the best word for me to describe it. I was about her age at the time so I could relate a bit to her as a teenage character. I wasn't a huge fan of the animation style, but I loved the characters and many of the stories. Some episodes really made me laugh. In particular I liked the first episode, the one where her summer camp friend came to visit her, and the one where Moose's favorite cartoon was retooled and Moose didn't like it.

A furry with eclectic tastes who loves the 80s and 90s. Mostly 1984-1992.

I watched a bunch of random episodes last year myself so I know the feeling. It's hard to watch the ones after they switched to flash animation though as whenever the characters move it just looks sooooo awkward and weird.

That reminds me of "Cyberchase" when they switched to flash animation. The characters just looked like they didn't move "naturally" as in the earlier episodes; they looked like they were sort of bouncing and gliding when I watched one of their newer episodes after they made the change.

I heard about them switching to Flash and I've been putting off watching the later seasons partially for that very reason but like with Arthur i'll eventually get around to going through them. i'll just have to grin and bear it.

Keep in mind after over 20 years and the death of one of the main characters VAs (R.I.P Gilbert Gottfried) this show is STILL RUNNING.

There is no way Motherboard is going to be saved at this point...

Speaking of catching up, I started a number of games/played around with a number of games and am now trying to play catch up. Magical Vacation is my current dream, always been fascinated by the game but never got too far.

For me I am slowly trying to 100% Mario 64 DS, as I never attempted to. So far some of the missions are easier than I expected, while others are overly complicated for anyone to get without a guide. For example one level has you enter as Mario, activate a canon, shoot at a wall, then wall jump and triple jump to get a star, all while not trying to slip off the ice. Why???

Some Youtubers and general audiences have apparently soured more on Mario 64 DS since its rave debut so many years ago, but I'm still definitely glad that the version of the game exists. If anything, as a well-intentioned and quality novelty. I never beat it myself, sadly, and own the game. I have heard mixed things about completing it tho, as well as the weird "circle" controller causing control issues in comparison to the actual stick on the N64 version of the game. Good luck! I know that Earthbound/Mother 2 was a "cult classic" game that bombed here in the USA (IE it wasn't a childhood game for most people here), plus Ness is more of a tween than child, but something about the game captures the "feel" of childhood in a way that is super hard to explain. Maybe the locations and objects feeling vaguely familiar, or just that feel of running around like a wild goblin with an equally wild imagination (while daydreaming up elaborate scenarios)? Who knows?
All that to say that I finally played the game and loved it XD
