Good job! Reddit is hard for me. I am part of many wholesome, exciting and welcoming communities, but I find myself obsessively doom scrolling through political and news related subs frequently. It's frustrating that reddit has both good and bad. I wish I could find a better balance.
Do you guys stick to the web versions of social media on your smart phones? I try to avoid the apps as much as possible for a variety of reasons.
Even the communities based on my interests can have callous people. Such a shame that and Discord are the trendy places to have a club based on your interests. Though I just discovered free-to-use forums like ProBoards does let you make your own community.
It even sucks more that Reddit is my only place to look up reviews on a product or a question. I try to resort to YouTube. Or use this function -site:reddit.com whenever using Google and wanting to find different sources.
I'm currently toying with deactivating my Insta and eventually deleting it. Yeah, the foreign language/travel/culture content is AWESOME (and I've uploaded so much stuff there too) but it's just so much of a "time soak" that I'm debating if I really want to keep it around. I have already started deleting hundreds (yes, hundreds) of inactive/unnecessary followers and removing myself from hundreds of pages I followed (yes, hundreds). I might also try to see who I am already connected to on FB (IE "how many 'notable people' would I ACTUALLY lose by deleting Insta") and then go from there. Depending on how things go, I think that between Discord/FB Messenger, I wouldn't really need Insta to connect with people much anymore.
