For me, some parts of social media can really trigger my sensitive eyes/ears in ways not good. For example, crap like Lankybox(link goes to The Beak talking about that LB's various warcrimes) would constantly flash a whole lot of images onscreen in absurdly bright colors as a way to get the attention of little kids, but I HATE THAT. I hate it whenever something like that happens because my eyes are sensitive to that crap. I could very well be epileptic, which could be a good reason as to why I can't handle such fast-paced flashy brainrot. Similar atrocities include Max Design Pro, which outright have shorts where FOUR SHORTS PLAY ALL AT ONCE.

I also have sensitive ears, so some unexpected ear destruction is VERY unwelcome. Sure, I can perhaps find some fun in listening to music that's loud ENOUGH, but too loud & it can result in me noping out.
But once Smartphones and high speed wifi became the norm in the 2010s, then suddenly, all these other apps burst forth out on the scene. As friends/colleagues/family gravitated toward one platform over the other, it just became overwhelming. Messenging apps like Whatsapp or Kik or Snapchat, more art-centric ones like Tumblr, hobby ones like Pinterest, video ones like Vine/Muscal.ly/Tiktok, photo-centric Flickr/Photobucket/Instagram. "Trends, trends, trends, you better hop on the trend train before everyone leaves without you" is how it felt sometimes. UGH. It was all too much trying to keep up with all these different apps IMO and that's one reason that it was time for those apps to go for me, even if it meant missing out on certain friends' thoughts/experiences.
