Actually the reception from critics was pretty good and a chunk of fans liked it too, it was mostly just a vocal minority that hated it cause of sexism(I was there when the movie was first announced and the comments were full of misogynist crap from the getgo so i'm not exaggerating in the slightest)
That would've been interesting if both had come out that year though.
Wonder what movie Larrikins would've had to compete against?
You know what actually, now that I think about it, Ghostbusters 2016 probably would’ve been more financially successful as well if B.O.O came out alongside it. I could see it being some sort of TikTok trend or something in which people would first watch B.O.O, and then Ghostbusters 2016 back-to-back.
I certainly would love to see what a sequel would have in store.
I feel like had it released, most people would've saw B.O.O as an unofficial sequel to Jimmy Neutron rather than a Ghostbusters competitor and that's what all the memes would have revolved around.

Maybe. I could also see people just drooling all over the ghost in the blue robe. If there’s one good thing that came out of this movies cancellation, it’s that we don’t have to see any cursed-ass fanart of that guy… that truly would’ve been the stuff of nightmares.
Ngl, the other one (I think his name is Willy, and he’s the one who presumably got killed by Addison with those electric jump ropes, whatever they’re called) looks like a biker, and the other one with the hat and the big nose looks like he never heard of the word “consent”.
Did some searching and found an interesting blog post linked in a tvtropes thread that mentions multiple cancelled disney movies and the theoretical timeline they would have released in
First is the 2010s Winnie the Pooh reboot
Then Wreck it Ralph, which the blogger interestingly describes as having a similar transformation American Dog had... minus the plot problems. Ouch.
After that is King of the Elves which seems to have had a lot of developmental hell with constant cancellations and retries.
After that is a mystery John Musker and Ron Clements movie. The tvtropes commenter guesses it's either Mort or Moana.
Then Cosmic 3000.
Finally, after all that would have been Gigantic.
What we got instead? Well Wreck it Ralph is the only project here to remain unscathed. After that was the surprise hit Frozen. Then the oft-forgotten, but popular Big Hero 6. Then Zootopia, Moana, Ralph 2, Frozen 2.
If I had to choose, I would of rather had any of these movies over Ralph 2 and Frozen 2 and any of the movies that released afterwards. I am unsure if I prefer this alternative timeline over the one we gotten. The ideas here are interesting, but there's also some weak links, like I am not sure how good Cosmic 3000 (a movie about alien race car drivers) and King of the Elves (mostly due to it's development hell) could have been.
I found a site called bcdb which lists production info on various movies. I don't know how accurate the information in it is, but it is interestingly the only source outside of animator portfolios/blogs/twitters and various animation books that lists Ruthie the Girl Scout as being a character in American Dog.
Bolt began life as American Dog, and was to be written and directed by Chris Sanders. Some of the earlier voice cast members announced included Woody Harrelson (Rhino), Mario Cantone (Cat), Jennessa Rose (Ruthie), Liv Hutchings (Sarah), Thomas Haden Church, Bernie Mac and Bruce Greenwood. Then, in 2006, a rough cut of the film was shown to John Lasseter. Based on that viewing, Lasseter removed Chris Sanders as writer/director because, "...he couldn't take it to the place it had to be."

Tbh, I think we still could’ve gotten gigantic even with all the movies we got instead.
That leaves one question though: how far did gigantic go into production before getting cancelled? If I personally had to guess, it’s probably a popeye situation where it only exists as a feature-length animatic, with no animation work done at all.

I was listening to the Jim Hill podcast recently. Jim Hill is someone who is very close to people who work in Disney, so pretty reliable. According to him there were songs completed, story beats, and even characters. There was one massive problem that kept it from releasing. The story was going to be about people and giants signing a treaty years ago, giants get to stay in the sky and people on Earth. The two must never cross paths. Jack climbing the beanstalk breaks the treaty and the villains, the thunder giants go down to earth. And then...
Well that's it, they couldn't just figure out what happened after that. Having what was essentially kid friendly War of the Worlds was deemed to be pretty dark for a kids movie, but they couldn't really start from scratch either.
Some of the songs ended up in Frozen 2, mainly "Into the Unknown", which explains why both of the official covers were done by male rock artists.

Ah, I see. I’d imagine that means no “movie” actually exists then, just production materials. That’s honestly how I thought popeye was. The animatic’s leak definitely took me by surprise.

Yeah most likely no movie, but the production is surprising. Seriously, they did all the songs before the plot? That's insane to me lol.

I'm curious how far Newt got into production before it got scrapped(which apparently was due to the similarly themed "Rio" coming out)

If I’m correct, there also was no actual “movie” made out of it. In fact, I don’t think they even wrote a script before it got cancelled. Concept art and maybe a pitch bible is probably all that was ever made before the plug was pulled on this film.

Yeah Newt seems to have not made it very far before being canned. I am kinda glad it did tbh. It's sad when any movie gets cancelled, but Inside Out is the much more clever and interesting concept any day, even when removing the existence of Rio. Newt seemed like a movie any company could make, but only Pixar could create Inside Out.

Yeah. Inside out just seemed like a better idea overall.
By the way, on an unrelated note, on the lost media wiki page for Me and My Shadow, apparently the user by the name of YoshiKiller claimed a workprint of the film was in circulation. I’ll go take a picture of it and post it here. I’m not sure if that’s true or not though, and if it is, I wonder if it’s the most complete version that exists.

I generally take comments with a grain of salt, but it could still be possible. I assume that the workprint is probably far enough to have all the story-beats and whatever animation was completed, or else it wouldn't be so highly circulated (presuming its real).
I have been hoping for these films to leak Bee Movie OG Cut Beebylon Kingdom Of The Sun And Toy Story Black Friday Reel
Out of all of these, I'd like to see Beebylon the most just to see how similar it is to "Bee Movie". Kingdom of the sun could be interesting as well, though I personally think it's story from what is out there was a complete mess.
