Just finished reading this book. Honestly the answer to me is clear cut - keep the dad dead. It's sad but its important to teach kids you can't just bring people back to life.
Also I am shocked Huck's Landing doesn't have an article here, it might be one of the most fascinating lost media cases I've ever read.
Yeah. I think the ending could be where Jackson and Henry say their final goodbyes, and then it Timeskip to about 28 years later, where Henry Moss gets an intense heart attack and dies, and so he becomes a ghost himself, and as a result, becomes a new agent at B.O.O.
Speaking of different endings, if the movie got far enough for over half the runtime to be fully or near-fully rendered, then how come they didn’t have an ending decided yet? They should’ve decided on that while writing the script.
Also, I really wonder what these characters names are. They seem like they would’ve been important to the film.
Now that I think about it, since we do know that copies of the film likely do still exist, would that mean that these copies just… end abruptly? Like no ending? Or were there 2 different cuts, each with the different endings mentioned?
Probably abrupt no ending is my guess. That would be a lot of time and resources to fully animate and at least do some unfinished renders for 2 endings

Oh………. Well, I’d have to hope that at least an animatic for any of the ending ideas exists with voice acting, so that if the film ever gets leaked, I could stitch that on at the end to create a more “complete” cut of the film.
Btw, did the names for the characters in the pictures ever get revealed? I gave the Christmas elf-looking one the nickname “socky”.

If I may ask, how likely do you think it is for this movie to get leaked online?
I am not sure myself. According to the Drawing for nothing book, a lot of people who worked on the movie have been laid off, but none of them have really leaked the full movie. The people putting stuff out so far is putting out clips and model reels, which is probably all they were able to save once being exited from Dreamworks. This is just judging by what I was able to find from my research into American Dog where a lot of the models were put online from various artists who worked on very specific models - for example one artist worked on making the cat character while another worked on making the girl scout. Maybe its different for Dreamworks, but seems similar enough from what I gather.
Also maybe this is conspiracy-ish but it's interesting to note that the movies leaked so far had some level of fan outcry behind them or a level of high interest/knowledge, while B.O.O was a more quiet cancellation that didn't have much fan outcry behind it. I doubt people would have even discovered this movie if merch wasn't released. So maybe a leak hasn't happened simply because the interest isn't there?
However, maybe its still possible for a leak to happen. This is just general observation stuff lol.

Yeah, that seems likely. Do you think any endings actually exist at all? Like, in the form of animatics and stuff?
But to be fair, there is a lot of interest and outcry for other cancelled animated films like Larrikins, Me and My Shadow, and any tax write-off WB discovery films, and those haven’t been leaked at all.

They definitely had ideas for the ending, I am not sure how far along either one was. I guess if a leak happened that would be one of the biggest mysteries that would be solved. And yeah that's true, those movies have a lot of interest but haven't leaked. Maybe due to people still working at those studios not wanting to risk it. Or some weird personal thing where they didn't like the movie, so they don't want to leak it. Or some other form of corporate politics thing.
For my personal holy grail American Dog, there was a commenter on cartoon brew who was allegedly part of the crew that really wanted to see that movie leaked just to show people how bad the movie was and that hasn't happened yet either. As far as I can tell most people who worked on that movie no longer work at Disney either. It's just bizarre, I can't tell what the conditions for a leak are.

Mhmm. Which ending do you think they would’ve gone with. If I’m honest, the one where Jack is revived and returns to his son Henry would’ve been a garbage-ass ending.

I really, really hope they would have gone with the one where Jack stayed dead. Having him revived when he's a ghost is just very bad for many reasons. Not to mention judging from the concept art I've seen I highly believe he died by being accidentally run over by a train. That would be one mutilated dad.

Oh…… I’m guessing the conductor of that train must have also died. I guess that would explain who the ghost who was trolling Henry in that one clip was.
Now that I think about it, I also couldn’t help but notice that a lot of clips take place around the very same city block. The kids getting chased by ghosts, the large cookie chasing the van, the unnamed ghost with the big nose getting sucked inside the Hauntlet and then being shot out, all those clips take place in the same spot. I guess this would’ve been a bottle movie?

Probably. Makes it easier to animate and build stories around having it be all in one city.

I suppose that makes sense.
If I’m honest, I imagine that if this movie was never cancelled, it would’ve gotten delayed to the summer of 2016, and it would have competed with Ghostbusters 2016.
In fact, I could see it becoming a huge meme online with two ghost films being out in cinemas at the same time, and considering the very poor reception of the 2016 film (which I personally liked), B.O.O probably could have dominated the box office over Ghostbusters.

Actually the reception from critics was pretty good and a chunk of fans liked it too, it was mostly just a vocal minority that hated it cause of sexism(I was there when the movie was first announced and the comments were full of misogynist crap from the getgo so i'm not exaggerating in the slightest)
That would've been interesting if both had come out that year though.
Wonder what movie Larrikins would've had to compete against?

Well to be fair, there are also a bunch (and I don’t exaggerate when I mean a bunch) of people who really hate the movie not even for gender reasons or anything, but because they straight up think it’s an awful film, with unlikeable characters, jokes that drag on too long (in other words: poor comedic timing), a forgettable villain who has the “i was bullied, so I must take revenge on humanity” trope, among other things that I’ve heard people criticize this film for.
I don’t personally agree with most of it (except maybe the comedic timing one, some jokes definitely go on way too long), but otherwise, it definitely doesn’t deserve the hate and controversy it gets
But yes, that would’ve been interesting, especially when you consider that both films had Melissa McCarthy and Bill Murray as cast members.
As for Larrikins, it was supposed to come out in February 2018, so it probably wouldn’t have had much competition.

You know what actually, now that I think about it, Ghostbusters 2016 probably would’ve been more financially successful as well if B.O.O came out alongside it. I could see it being some sort of TikTok trend or something in which people would first watch B.O.O, and then Ghostbusters 2016 back-to-back.
I certainly would love to see what a sequel would have in store.
