What is your opinion on cancelled movies being leaked online? This has only happened once so far, with that being Popeye, but there are many more films that are likely to get leaked in the future.
What are your guys’ thoughts on this? What films do you hope leak online?
Here are mine:
Larrikins
B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherwordly Operations (this one is underrated)
Me and My Shadow
Batgirl
Scoob: Holiday Haunt

All of the above and also The Magic 7, Boogie Town and Black Water Transit.
Speaking of which, do you want me to just privately message you the email for Alexis wanneroy? (Animator fo Larrikins and B.O.O.)? Tim minchin was pre pissed when the former got cancelled, so I don’t think he’d mind it getting leaked.

yeah sure go ahead.
Update: I’m gonna have to share it publicly instead. When typing in messages, it doesn’t show an “Add Attachment” button. I’m on mobile.

Good luck! Make sure you use your real name, or a made up, but real sounding one, as the email (otherwise the lead will assume spam). You read ziggy’s book, right?

Email has been sent, I used one of my secondary emails.

If he actually gives you a copy of both movies, I really hope it’s the most finished cut of the both films that exist.
I hear the internet archive is the best place to upload that kind of stuff (also include a google drive link, I want to download this stuff when o get the chance to use wifi again. The house I love in doesn’t have any, because I’m only 15 and my mom can’t afford it, so I can’t be as active here as I want to, just thought you should know).

Not to rain on the parade but there is no way he is going to give a copy of either film. He probably doesn't even have a copy of either of them. Animators only have what they animated or the adjoining scenes from other animators for context. The only crew that is likely going to have a full workprint are people like the mixers, foley artists, and especially the editors. But even then, they aren't going to give a workprint anyway because they signed an NDA (non disclosure agreement) and the fact that the footage is owned by the studio, not them. I would love to see B.O.O. get leaked, especially since it was about 90% complete before cancelation, but it's probably never gonna happen, at least not from a random email asking for it. This is just something we're probably going to have to wait with time to happen. I even found a crew member who owns a workprint of Foodfight but he wasn't comfortable giving it due to legal reasons. If he wasn't comfortable, these people certainly aren't going to be when it's coming from a AAA studio like Dreamworks.
Again, really don't want to be a buzzkill, but I have to explain how realistic this is.

Wait, I thought animators did have full copies of the movies they animated? That’s news to me. Not even the director?

How do I draw more attention for a search by the way? This is for the land before time deleted scenes, but I just figured I might as well ask now, since not many people are responding on my thread (at least not recently that I know of, the house I love in has no wifi for context)

Thanks for letting us know anyway.
It seriously depends on the person but usually no not even the director has a copy of the movie. A good example is when Batgirl was canceled (albeit being a live action movie) the director scrambled to get a copy of it before it was removed from their servers. He was too late, and therefore, not even the director himself has a copy of his own movie. This happens a lot when something is canceled. And even if an animator does have a copy, its meant to stay with them and only them. I don't even think they're supposed to keep it but when you get so far in the field you don't really care about the rules as long as you're not sued. Anyway, getting attention for your hunt is always difficult. It's probably best to find communities that are specific so your subject. Ideally, in your case, find some Land Before Time super-fans. Could also try animation communities. But finding an audience is never easy.

I thought the story where it was erased from their servers was a myth? I mean, Warner bros would have to keep the movie if they wanted to tax write it off, right? I’m sure at least an incomplete/edited copy exists somewhere.
As for the search, do you know any good animation communities I can try out?
