3) I miss the golden era of YouTube prior to 2012-2014 before they started becoming more business oriented, integrated with Google+ and changed the algorithms and everything from then on started changing not always for the better and many YouTubers lost views as most of their subscribers couldn't see their videos on their feeds anymore. I remember back in the early days (I say early but I joined in 2007) people would work hard to make great video content, even if the video quality wasn't anywhere near as good as it is today that didn't matter as the content was great and original and you had YouTubers like Tay Zonday, Ray William Johnson, Jon Paula/Jory Caron (Is it a Good Idea to Microwave this?), Fred, etc... A lot of people had their own character personas and didn't just be themselves and it was more quality over quantity which today it seems to be quality and quantity if you want to make it on YouTube which often the two don't go hand in hand as it takes time to make great quality content.
I think youtube is long gone. Stricter mods, "cringe culture", focus on companies and professionals rather than smaller and more indie videos. 2016 was the final nail on the coffin.

Same here, there are still some creators I follow but I feel like the days of breakout viral hits are gone. Jim Sterling said it best when they said that the only way to succeed on Youtube these days is to "Be popular already".
I missed the era of when we had several websites for sharing videos like Google Video, Spike TV(James Rolfe did several movie-related top 10 lists on there), etc. I also miss the days when interactivity was based more around forums and fansites then social media(And of course when MySpace was cool). Back then the alt-right trolls were confined to places like Gamefaqs and the IMDB forums(Which I kinda miss in spite of how toxic they could get at times)and you could easily ignore them, whereas now the trolls unfortunately have a much louder voice thanks to social media.

I miss it too! It's sad knowing most of them are gone now because they just couldn't stay relevant enough because of YouTube's popularity.
Believe me, me too. Nowadays, they're everywhere. Best thing to do it ignore them and act like they don't exist.
Yeah, so much "newer" media is too neat and polished and "clean" and well....PROFESSIONAL which makes it feel more corporate and less genuine. Give me my eye destroying glitter rainbow gifs and "homemade" non-quality video footage of someone in their room again haha!
And MY GOODNESS just saw someone reference IMDB forums, those were like a good part of my life in like the late 00s or so! The format could be off and there were oodles of troll posts, but I had so much fun browsing those for hours upon hours! I even had my mind opened in a few places, especially when interacting with foreigners (I'm American) and their different standards/styles/references of movies.

Exactly! I agree with you so much! Where are the cat gifs, or the anime ones? Where's the wacky colors and fonts?
Ahh, the glory 2005-10 youtube days of people recording with potato quality. Beautiful!!

Honestly, scrolling through older forums sounds great to do. Love to see what people were talking about in the early 2000s!
Speaking of, do you remember those old gaming hoaxes from the internet?

Yeah I remember the old hoaxes. There are still some old school forums from the 2000s that are still active today like AnimeSuperhero(formerly Toonzone)that place is a breath of fresh air.
Ah, I mostly hung around Emulators and ROMS, not quite sure if you mean on forums and such? That said, JWittz did a great video on the lore of "Pikablu" and other "Pokemon rumors." A lot of gaming rumors were pushed around popular games in the late 90s/early 00s for sure. Of course, a few were actually confirmed in a few Nintendo leaks! Heh!
I remember being hoodwinked by the "Croc 3" game right here on Lost Media Wiki! I actually liked Croc despite its flaws (the sequel, not so much), I had heard there were "sequels" but those were mobile games, strangely enough!

I miss those times. It's unique to see how many hoaxes people fell for, especially when not so many people had access to tools like photoshop and other similar programs. I myself was fooled by a Super Mario Galaxy DS hoax. I still wish it was real, but in hindsight, I'm not sure whether it would've been good or not.
