Been entering the search as well, coming from Canada and also having a version of the Nickelodeon channel,i thought we would have similar bumpers back then. Normally i look around for obscure french stuff but these got my attention pretty quickly as they were really different from the normal bumpers i used to see, also a massive zombie fan lol.
I think if we are more to search these, our results will be way quicker.I know for a fact and like rockingGoomba was saying, it was in 2011 during the ''10 nights of frights'' block. I even stumbled on an article talking briefly about these HallowMean segments. So now all we have to do is find a recording of that particular block
I’ve never helped search for lost media, so I’m not sure the best placess to look or what is and isn’t helpful - so apologies if this isn’t helpful at all lol.
But Nickelodeon had a 10 nights of frights event during October of 2011, and the spongebob episode “ghoul fools” aired on the 21st of that month. Maybe if someone had recorded or filmed the premier of the episode they could’ve caught one of the Idents. This could also help us narrow down the time frame in which these idents were being aired - but I’ve seen “Hallowmean” used quite a bit too but haven’t had any luck on finding anything on that.
I'm new to this as well, but i think that's actually a decent idea
Theoretically there could be like a bootleg upload that has the commercials from the night it aired in it somewhere online since i feel like they wouldn't care enough to edit them out. If not. Someone probably recorded the episode on a...VCR? DVD? Idk what was used in like 2011 for that type of stuff once again i was like 6. But either way, someone had to have recorded it and probably captured at least one of them by complete accident. I feel like if they aired at any point. It would *have* to be during the 10 nights of frights.
Btw. This is complete guesswork but i would assume the 10 nights of fright ended directly on Halloween. If it's 10 nights. I'm pretty sure that narrow it down to between the 21st and 31st of October 2011. Once again, this is complete guesswork. But i think it's worth noting.
You guys are making me feel old. In 2011, VHS’s were obsolete and hard to come by (though still possible if someone had the equipment), and DVD recording never really took off like VHS recordings. DVRs were the go-to method of recording TV. Unfortunately, I feel like that’s precisely why recordings around that time are hard to come by - people would record a show, then delete the recording after they finished watching it. Add to that the fact that the Zombified shorts aired on Nicktoons Network, which was a channel primarily accessed through the same digital cable boxes that typically had DVRs built in, I’m not surprised recordings have been hard to find.

The phrasing of the Hallowmean description interests me so much. "Nicktoons embraces the scary spirit of the season with “HalloMEAN!” featuring encores of themed series all weekend long, plus the network premiere of The Troop with action-packed episodes on Halloween day." What do they mean by Encores? Are they just referring to the indents? Was there more to Hallowmean than we thought? Is this the first time in the history of mankind that The Troop was relevant?

For me it's the mystery behind why they buried these so deeply under the ground that's so fascinating (ironic huh lol) I mean these are just bumpers, something must have gone really wrong for them to just disappear and have no residue left after all these years.I think it just adds to the excitement of the mystery lol, again they must have had an urgent reason to erase, they we're only just 15-20 second bumpers.I mean a banned episode ok,but for a few seconds of bumper segments? we really need to see those to understand why.

Tbh. And i wanna say i'm not trying to make this into a creepypasta thing but like i think Nick might geniunely wanna purge this, but not because "oooh they were too scary for kids and one kid died watching it probably" but because it probably doesn't fit their current brand. In the later years of watching Nick i think the worst thing they had for bumpers was a cheap jumpscare bumper with a cartoon bat that wasn't even that scary. Nothing to the degree of Zombified. Also i'm pretty sure there was a completely separate bumper about the Avatar that involved the characters being Halloween creatures that is also lost so that adds to my general theory that they purged them just because it doesn't really fit their current brand. Imagine how weird it would be being a kid and seeing all these kinda spooky but not really scary videos on Nick's website, then seeing one with them as Zombies ending with Chum Chum exploding on the couch. Plus most of the shows in Zombified are already long canceled. So they might have also taken them off the website for that reason as well.
Honestly i have a geniune fear that we're gonna find them. Host them exclusively on Youtube. But then Viacom takes them down. They did that with the Space Channel 5 pilot. So i'm worried they're gonna do this here.

I feel that while Nick could definitely have realized these bumpers were too scary for younger audiences, I doubt that after deciding that they'd put them on the Nickelodeon website for anyone at the time to view. That said, they could've just done it because they needed something Halloween like to put on their site for the season.

Quick clarification on the Avatar bumpers: that particular collection of bumpers featured other Nick characters with similarly Halloween-themed art. I just remembered the Avatar ones the most because I was - and still am - obsessed with Avatar. I know one of the others was SpongeBob as Frankenstein’s monster.
I am pretty sure those bumpers are also lost. I don’t want to derail focus here from Zombified, but do let me know if there’s another thread on the forum discussing the ‘07 Nick Shocktober bumpers.

What's funny to me is that they still commissioned those even though they knew it was gonna be too scary for the general audience,i mean what did they expect with friendly cartoon characters having their jaws and limbs falling down while looking like a demon from hell lol.I wasn't watching Nicktoons at that time because i was older and cartoons weren't really my thing anymore but i swear if i saw these it would have totally love them and would have been fascinated by this choice. It's also silly to me that even though they we're supposed to be too scary for kids, they still let these clips on the nicktoons website for a while even after it was done.We gotta know at what point in time they decide and said ''This is just too much,we gotta purge it''.

Oh but i stumble upon the Frankeinstein one yesterday, for a second i thought it was it as well xD

That's also true. If it is that they realized they were too scary. It was probably a bit of a hindsight thing. Though keep in mind that if we look on the wayback machine. They were on the site pretty long after they were posted. Since the most recent date is in December 2015. So i think it might not be it being too scary since i feel like they would of acted sooner if that's the case.

Oh, were they even up before the Nick rebranding? That's pretty interesting

I'm a little confused about the question, Do you mean rebranding to the halloween theming? If it helps anything. The earliest upload to the site for the Bessie one at least is November 3rd. So i think in terms of being added to the site. I think they might have been added after Halloween but don't quote me on that. They still had the halloween logo on the site despite everything else being normal, lmao.
Funnily enough the earliest archive for Fanboy and Chum Chum is in March 2012 for some reason, it was probably just archived late i just thought it was funny.

I meant when the site went through a massive change in design.

That’s actually ANOTHER different bumper. I’d found an image of the SpongeBob one from Shocktober, and it definitely has a more spooky style:
I do wonder if the bumper on SBM was both inspired by the Shocktober one and was mistaken for Zombified. It does have both SpongeBob and Patrick acting zombie-ish.
About the bumpers’ presence on Nick.com, it’s not too odd to me if they remained online even if they were deemed too scary. Nick actually was a bit more lenient regarding the content on the site than they were on what aired on TV. Legend of Korra was pulled from Nickelodeon and started premiering exclusively on Nick.com RIGHT before a particularly dark episode.

I also stumble upon this when doing my research,i mean it's the closest we have to them looking like Zombies for now
