It reminded me of what I used to do, only you had higher quality stuff whereas I just had a camera on the phone to work with alongside some random toys, & plushes.
Oh no! You guys just reminded me of my puppet finger videos. All of them on my mother's old phone... They are better off lost though, they were terrible
It's a double edged sword. I'd love to see some of it again, but other stuff I'm glad is gone - hopefully. I think a recent encounter I had with someone who found a body horror story I wrote a few years ago has me wondering if I'll ever have a day when someone reaches out to me to ask if I wrote certain pieces of atrocious fanfiction or what have you. That's gonna be super awkward.
Oh, this thread hurts. I want to say 95% of my work as a writer and editor are gone.
For context, 15+ years of short stories, novellas, novels (30-90+ chapters long), poetry, lyrics, songs, YTPs, and some script drafts are entirely lost because the sites I hosted them to have since expired or had a migration fuck up that deleted everything (similar to MySpace's infamous 2019 failure). If it wasn't that, it was a tech problem on my end where I wasn't able to back them up or they're possibly rotting on a laptop I have in storage.
Some stuff I don't mind being gone since they were just flat out bad, and others I miss since they were a time capsule of what I was dealing with at the time; particularly when I was in high school and I used writing as an outlet for dealing with just about everything under that life could throw at me, like loss, relationship problems, friends getting cancer, and stuff like that. It was a turning point in my style, so it's been a tough mourning process.
Back up your stuff, guys.

Nah, I didn't have anything special either. I had a Sony Handicam (that I couldn't figure out if it was possible to edit the discs) and a smaller camera about the size of an old iPhone and thick as a brick that you could only do so much with. The battery would die fairly quick and I had to have it repaired since things got misaligned after a bad fall. Outside that, I was using WMM and Audacity like anyone else in the mid-late 2000s. I had a bootlegged editing program on the side, but I forgot the name and I mostly used it for school projects since I had more stuff to work with.

Unexpected update time.
I'm on Youtube relaxing and out of the clear blue, I get recommended a video that's over ten years old that looks familiar. It was a shitty MV for a fandom I was in a long time ago and it's instantly nostalgic as all hell because I remember seeing it. It still has comments as recent as five years ago, but has been dead since like, 2009 or so, I think. The whiplash hits me like a 95 mph car crash when I see the other videos and I realize why all of it and the name is familiar. It's because it was one of my side channels. This is my shame. This hole was made for me.
Holy shit, how did this happen? I haven't interacted with any of that in ages from what I remember. What are the odds?! I might keep an eye on it, but since I don't have the login information anymore I don't know if it has any community strikes against it or not. If it does, how it's lasted this long is a mystery to me. I won't link it because it's just pure, unfiltered cringe and I'm secondhand embarrassed by it now knowing it's mine. But at least there's some fingerprint of my awful, MySpace era shame out there still. There's another channel I had around the same time that I used to archive Power Rangers clips, but that's probably gone for good and I don't see much of a point in finding it since it doesn't have a purpose anymore.
Most of my drawings pre 2018 are completely lost to time
That's unfortunate. I tried to find my middle school art for a video, and realized a lot of it was lost.
Yeah, sucks. Any artists reading here, if you got traditional drawings, keep them a container and put them in a storage space, just so you can see your art progression. With digital artists, save them to the cloud. I post my digital art on twitter and discord, but you could never know when a MySpace could happen where they could explode and everything posted there gets lost.

I’m thinking that most of the pictures and videos that I had taken on my first cell phone are gone (late 2000s). I do have a bunch of pictures of my friend and I at a museum that I know I put onto my computer, and subsequently a flash drive, but there was a lot of other stuff that wasn’t. I guess there is a chance that it is on a memory card somewhere, but who knows.

I used to make AMVs that I uploaded to YouTube, most of them made with Windows Movie Maker, where I'd take Super Sentai theme songs (and sometimes Power Rangers) and mix them with Digimon clips (most of the time). I have most of them backed up, but a few of them are completely lost. While most of the lost ones I'm not too unhappy about losing because I thought they were cringe, there was one last one that I'm not happy about losing. The vid was a mix between the theme song from Magiranger with clips from Yes Pretty Cure 5 GoGo. It got deleted by YouTube because of copyright infringement (thanks TOEI) and the computer I made the vid on had a power surge and now can't be turned on.

Ah a fellow person who watched PreCure, nice! Do you still follow it?
That aside, ye copyright can be a pain to deal with on YT. Japan doesn't have fair use tho, so it would be an uphill battle to get the video back up. I also wish I could find my old videos, which were lost due to copyright (Thank ShoPro for this)

This is probably a good time to tell I've only seen a few episodes of Pretty Cure at all: the first episode of Futari wa, dubbed into English (when it got shown at a convention in London about 10 years ago), the one where Nagisa, Honoka and their classmates sew a blanket as a wedding gift for their teacher, dubbed in Malay (when the Malay dub was shown on NTV7 years ago) and the first few episodes of Yes Pretty Cure 5. It didn't help progress on the subs were sluggish back in 2007, so I ended up following the series through synopses on the PreCure Livejournal. Futari wa has a nice theme song and I was interested in Yes Pretty Cure 5 because it was a five girl team, so reminded me of Power Rangers. I haven't seen any of the other series outside of clips and I can't tell what Cure belongs to what series after Heartcatch.
I know Glitter Force was shown on the tv station London Live in the UK a few years ago, but I couldn't be bothered to get up early enough to watch it. I would be interested in watching it, given it's also a five person team.
That AMV getting taken down killed my YouTube Channel if anything, since I'd already earnt a couple of strikes, one from uploading a full episode of Kamen Rider Den-O and the other for uploading the music video of "Climax Jump Den Liner Form" from Kamen Rider Den-O. Guess I painted a target on myself for the TOEI company to shoot at.

Ah ok.
I only watched more of the recent seasons (Star Twinkle, Healin Good, and the most recent airing currently Tropical Rouge)

If those videos were ever up on YouTube, small chance I watched them. I used to watch a lot of EENE videos back in the day.
I think it counts, one person I was mutuals with on dA disappeared entirely and I still wonder what they're up to these days, and that was 2008.
Yes some of them were on You Tube. Remember seeing one of The Safety Dance? LOL
Also did you ever look at Ed Edd n Eddy fan art on Deviant Art? If so I want to ask you if you remember seeing this one person’s Art. I don’t remember their user name. I can just DM you, I don’t need to derail this thread.
my family had a some vhs recordings of me as kid growing up, they tell me years later we had someone breaking into our house and stole some stuff including the recordings of me. the man who stole it who never identified or caught and the tape is most likely no longer in this world.
other things include drawings i made in 2015- 2017ish, and some youtube videos i made that i deleted caause i didnt feel like it didnt fit with the rest of my content.
theres only two that i comes up on the top of my head.
a black panther review that was about 24 minutes long

Without a doubt, the Neopets fanfiction I wrote as a young kid. Unfortunately it’s almost certainly inaccessible (I wrote it directly into the Neopian Times submission box, and the email attached to my account at the time was an ancient family email that I don’t think anyone in my family still has the password to), but I look back on how goofy it was quite fondly.
During around i wanna say 2007 or 2008, I was brought into a strange building where I and a group of other children about my age watched a video on a TV, but to this day I have absolutely no idea what was shown on that TV, and I don't really think I have any way of ever knowing. I have sort of come to the conclusion that I was probably being tested for some TV pilot or something, but I cant confirm or deny this and it has driven me crazy for years lol.
