Hello LMW readers!
Today I bring you a discovery I had made that will please fans of Sony PlayStation's PaRappa the Rapper series, and those of its spin-off game, UmJammer Lammy! Before you begin reading, no, it isn't the currently lost MilkCan interview videos originally hosted on MILKCAN.com and featured on the also lost 'UmJammer Lammy NOW!' Arcade cabinet, but it is as equally interesting!
Back in 1999, the year of UmJammer Lammy's release, Sony Computer Entertainment North America created a Minisite for the game, hosted on the now defunct link of www.playstation.com/games/categories/stratpuzzle/lammy/ but thankfully archived on the Wayback Machine here. However, not all of it has been, such as the missing image you can see, and more.
The landing page contained two links, 'SEE THEM LIVE!', which redirected to webevents.broadcast.com/sonyplaystation/umjammerlammy/ a direct Livestream link of a official concert performed at New York City's 'The Roxy', and 'ENTER!', that took visitors to a interactive Flash page. The latter is missing the Flash file.
There is another page in the Minisite also missing a Flash file, but the page itself is kind of hidden.
By complete luck back in March of last year after doing some Google searches of ウンジャマ・ラミー, (Japanese translation) followed by 'Geocities Japan', I managed to locate both of the missing Flash files, titled 'debut.swf' and 'demo.swf'! They were hosted on a Geocities Japan website, before Yahoo! Japan pulled the plug on the service at the start of April in the same year. 'debut.swf' was the missing Flash file on the 'ENTER!' page:
'debut.swf' worked as a interactive Home Page, and 'demo.swf' gave a basic walkthrough of how to play UmJammer Lammy, and explains the game's score mechanic. This one was located on the hidden-ish page I mentioned earlier. The files will be able to be viewed offline using Adobe Flash Player's projector content debugger, which will continue to work after December 31st 2020. It can be downloaded here.
And here are videos of them in action. I'm currently working to upload these to Archive.org and make a Page for each file too! I'll edit this post once I have.
EDIT: Here's the Archive.org link! archive.org/details/UmJammerLammyFlashFiles
I hope my discovery benefits the PaRappa the Rapper/UmJammer Lammy Lost Media community!
