It's not tested, and it costs a pretty penny, but I feel like someone with an intent on preserving it should grab it up before it's too late, because if someone else wins it who's not into television preservation, they might just record over it or repeatedly watch the VHS without thinking twice about digitizing it, and if it gets recorded over, the footage will be gone forever, plus VHS tapes deteriorate even faster if you play them repeatedly in the VCR. Also, even if another TV preservationist wins it, it might not ever see the light of day on the internet depending on how greedy the winner is. So that's why I think you or someone else into preservation should win it, digitize it, and back it up to Archive.org and/or Google Drive (Preferably Archive.org).
OOH i will keep my eye on this, thank you for linking it to me, and i'll try my best to win it!! i check ebay often for sold as blanks but it's usually buy it nows for nick/cn/toonami where the shows are found media but the ads need preservation- this is more intriguing to me since the contents are unknown
edit: i just noticed the price tag 😠whyyyy is it that much money

Is this a Treehouse tape?
i'm not sure, and neither is the op. do you know if barney and friends aired on treehouse? op's guessing it could possibly come from pbs kids/nick jr but since they're so close to the us/canada border it could possibly come from treehouse- the treehouse tape i purchased came from a city close to the border as well

According to Wikipedia, Barney & Friends did play on Treehouse TV from 1997-1999 and then 2003-2012, so there is a chance it could be a Treehouse TV tape. Either way, I think someone should try to buy it and then archive it.
Well, if the tape is from Sep 2003 - Dec 2003, there's a possibility that the content is from Treehouse TV, as Barney & Friends aired again in September 1, 2003. If the tape was recorded in Jan 2003 - Aug 2003, then it's definitely not from Treehouse TV. Unfortunately, we don't know because the full date wasn't stated in the description of the item.
I noticed that the item had "2003?" so it may or may not be from 2003.
you could possibly have a parent or family friend help make a post for you on facebook marketplace/similar websites asking if anyone's got tapes laying around, there's more of a reach on the internet rather than asking people irl
If anyone's still got any VHS recordings of vintage Treehouse TV, keep circulating the tapes.
You make a very good point, fabfourfan95... Keep circulating the tapes, everyone! You may find some pretty cool stuff on them, like some rare promos or 'Coming Up Next' bumpers! I, for one, would like to see some more tapes of classic Treehouse TV content uploaded to the Internet, and I certainly hope we can find some tapes of Treehouse from September 2003 (I feel that's when the true Golden Age of the channel began) to 2007 and early-to-mid 2008 (mid-2008 is when the channel slowly began to go down the toilet, until they removed all the classic shows in 2011 and had that stupid old makeover in April 2013).
it'd be really cool if we could find something like max the cat or beezoos attic
Yeah, I know! I was born in 2003, and Max the Cat was one of my favorite shows to watch on Treehouse, along with Treetown, Ants in your Pants, The Bittles, Crazy Quilt (The one with Maggie and Jackson the raccoon), Wumpa's World, Bob the Builder, Rubbadubbers, The Wiggles, Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, Dragon, Mighty Machines, The Big Comfy Couch, among many others.

Interesting. Hey, do you have any old Treehouse recordings?

Sorry, I don't have any. I used to have a recorded VHS of some Treehouse content that my grandparents taped for me so I could watch Treehouse at home (We didn't have cable at my house back then, so I had to watch Treehouse at my grandparents' place, or get them to tape some shows for me onto them). I have no idea what happened to the tape... I think my mother threw it out.
I used to watch Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, Bob the Builder, and Ants in your Pants with my grandfather. Every Friday night, I'd stay at my grandparents' house and I'd stay up late at night to watch Ants in your Pants. Ah, the memories... I could go on and on about my Treehouse memories for hours...
