Limitless Paradise is a short animated film by Hiroshi Harada created in 1982. It is (supposedly) a 40 minute slice of life film consisting of still images depicting scenery and life, accompanied by pleasant music.
Many would consider this piece lost because of it's sheer obscurity and unavailability. However, there is one known copy. Harada himself is the only known person to have an 8-mm film reel of it. He has expressed interest in transferring the reel to a digital format, but fears that doing so may damage the film, as the reels were improperly taped together with consumer-grade tape.
So they only way to see this movie is to personally meet Harada and ask him to see the movie. For most of us, that's just not realistic. Fortunately, some images from the film and pieces of the OST have been released. I'll link them below, along with entry's from film databases.
I've started doing some searching for 限りなき楽園 and found this on dailymotion. There's only one photo used in the video, and the uploader claims it's one of the photos used in the film. It appears that this is a cover of some of the music or something.: www.dailymotion.com/video/xsgagh This same video was uploaded with the same slightly broken english description onto FC2 Video: video.fc2.com/content/20120328WzxBeUe3
The video description: “1977 For my 8mm movie.Because an old cassette-tape lengthens, it is hard to hear it. Sorry.Using the home keyboard "porta- sound" that YAMAHA gave for the first time in Japan in about 1980, I Ping-Pong-record. 中学生の時初めて作った曲を1982年(20歳の頃)、セルフリメイク。8mm用に作ったものの結局使わなかった。日本で初めてヤマハが発売した民生用(家庭用)小型キーボード「ポータサウンド」を使って、2台のテープレコーダーや音声トラックで、交互にダビング(コピー)しながら音を重ねる「ピンポン」方式で録音。”
I also found another music video on vimeo: vimeo.com/386302413 Do these songs sound similar to anyone else? They both seem to have a similar tempo to me, but I’m not a music expert or anything.
I also found this interview with Hiroshi Harada (it has English subs too.) www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLe4MlQuQA4 This uploader Forest AI has also uploaded the same video with the music and image in the other videos I found: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJ0bKpTycPE They also appear to post a lot of videos from government protests in Japan. The comments on this video are filled with people asking the user to release the full anime.
In the comments of the first video, The Kitsune Countess wrote: “I hope this isn't bothering you,but is this the full film or is it part of lost media? I've tried looking up all of the films on this channel and Mr.Harada but all I can find of his work that's finished is Shoujo Tsubaki. As someone who can respect the dedication he puts to make OVAs out of his own pocket,it would be wonderful if you had any more information on how to find his more obscure films in their entirety”
The youtube channel linked is: Kiyubaruきゆばる and after searching for 限りなき楽園, this video with the familiar guitar and singing that I first found on Vimeo comes up: www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzZacdNGdjg
(^) kiryukan.hariko.com/ seems to be the animation group’s website, I’m assuming Hiroshi Harada is part of this group. I feel like we’re incredibly close to finding Limited Paradise as well as other obscure works by this group, after looking through some of the videos I wouldn’t be surprised if this obscure group of animators also created something similar to Saki Sanobashi.
dont have much to add but this looks interesting. also, i looked on kiyubaru's channel, and they last uploaded 3 weeks ago. some of their stuff seems to be from the 80's, so maybe there's a chance they'll keep uploading more stuff.

Yeah, hopefully it'll be just a matter of time until Hiroshi Harada gives the okay to kiyubaru to post Limitless Paradise onto youtube. I can attempt to send them a tweet in Japanese asking them about it.
sounds like a good idea. also, from some of the posters found on tumblr and stuff, it seems like the film could potentially be something more interesting than just scenery and music. even if it is, though, itd still be a cool find. who knows how much lost anime is out there.
Hello! I found a partial footage of the film, albeit it's a re-shot of the original animation stills, of the film! Back in December 2020, the official Twitter account of Harada's production company, Kiryokan (@kiyabaru), posted a re-shot footage of the film!!
, although the link is now dead, thankfully it got archived in the Internet Archive! Here's the footage:
