Yeah, but she obviously wasnt in the best state of mind if she was considering suicide. I say this not to speak ill of her or anyone else who feels so sad or frustrated that they'd do such a thing--Ive been there myself. But suicide is something that many people who attempt and fail at, often realize soon after that they were wrong to do so. There are a lot of accounts of this, in particular a revealing AskReddit thread where previously suicidal people talked about their experiences. I think if Christine could look back and speak her thoughts now, she'd regret taking her own life and would not want it to be shown. Even aside from this, I think her personal feelings are somewhat irrelevant. The Virginia Tech shooter sent a package to NBC with photos and tapes he wanted people to see. But just because it was his wish doesnt mean we ought to comply with it. And in her case, while wanting to call out the network for emphasis on violence may be noble, I think we can all agree gruesomely killing yourself on air and traumatizing all your innocent coworkers and any unfortunate TV viewers is a really sick, counter-productive way to acheive any reform. Overall, I just think this is a weak argument to release what is essentially a snuff film to the public. We know she killed herself, why does anyone NEED to see the aftermath besides morbid curiosity?
Not trying to start a big fight on this or make anyone feel bad for wanting to see the tape. I just thought since no one else had been the devil's advocate yet I should share my contrarian opinion. I personally think the tape should be preserved in some crime files or media library vault so journalists, psychologists or whoever else can see it. I dont think it should ever reair or be uploaded online, and I further believe it's a wasted effort to try.
