Someone on FindADeath just pointed out something very interesting and that is that the police report goes directly against Gordon's original FB message, as well as what I was told by him just days ago. According to him, the only other person there at the time besides he and Christine was Jean Reed, but according to the police report, there was indeed another woman present, Linda Taylor (plus two guests that were preparing for an interview). The police report also pretty much states that there was at least two cameras, Gordon claims there was only one... I'm not sure what to think now :/ Still heavily leaning towards fake.
I've been thinking about this every single day since the supposed "leak" and have been obsessively reading every internet discussion (and watching every video) pertaining to it that I could get my hands on. It's a very big deal for me given it's the piece that got me into lost media and led me to this site to begin with. And I've had a very hard time trying to collect my thoughts about it.
I'm not an expert and I'm by no means trying to start arguments, but maybe it's worth having another perspective: after everything I've read the past few weeks, every attempted debunking...I still think it's real. I've leant towards real since day one and my feelings haven't changed. The video posted by bman78 pretty much sums up the reasons why. The only inconsistency no one seems to have put forth a theory for is the "h" in "Newswatch."
I know it's know where near comparable (and this will probably make me sound extremely stupid) (and this isn't a personal judgement on anyone here or anywhere else, and I pray no one takes it that way), but my experiences with the Steven Universe fandom have made me take debunkings with a huge, huge grain of salt. Just a week or so ago (?) a couple of stills supposedly leaked of an (at the time) unaired episode ("Storm in the Room") and people wrote essay-length debunkings on why they were fake. These analyses were so detailed it made my head spin, They seemed to have so much of the fandom convinced, it was nearly impossible to find anyone who thought the leaks were real. Turns out they were. (And this was the third time this had happened, "Alone at Sea" and "Message Recieved" had similar leaks that were "thoroughly debunked" and yet also turned out to be real *upside down emoji*).
Especially in this case, where there actually is quite a bit of evidence behind the "it's real" camp.
Re: Gordon Galbraith, I'd like to quote a post from another thread (I hope it's okay kobochat; I just want to give credit where it's due since your post gave me the...err "theory," I guess it'd be called):
Would be interesting if true, but I seriously doubt that, since Nickelodeon and CNN aren't even owned by the same company (time warner vs viacom). Most likely this person is misremembering, maybe someone in the room changed the channel on the TV and they mixed up the details. Plus I found this: boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?s=56bd7dbc2242b3727c02d2f1369f8413&p=17342903&postcount=12 which claims that Nickelodeon kept its normal programming throughout the whole time, with the exception of a "Nick News" segment after the fact. Which makes more sense, really - why traumatize little kids who wouldn't even understand what was going on?
Most people claim to have extremely vivid memories of traumatic events like 9/11, which is known as a "flashbulb memory". Problem is, they're not always accurate: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flashbulb_memory#AccuracyThis seems like the best explanation - I don't think they were deliberately lying since that's a dumbass thing to make up, and I like to hope that most people have better things to do than try to fool people into believing inconsequential bullshit in a reddit comment section.
Also, another angle (*puts on tinfoil hat*): if something came to light that I wish had stayed buried (not trying say this is definitely how Mr. Galbraith feels, just speculation) and I had the authority to confirm or deny it's authenticity, knowing full well that most people would take my word for it at absolute face value, I'd probably say it's fake in hopes it would fade back into obscurity. Damage control, if you would.
But I'm probably just gullible and letting my gut do too much of the thinking for me. Dunno.

Thanks for all the discussion since I first linked this video.
I've been following it here and elsewhere.
Let's face it. There's nothing to authenticate this video. NationSquid and another YTer bickered back and forth about its ownership, BestGore picked it up and claimed it as their own.
The clip has no provenance, was very well done and gave us something to talk about for awhile.
