I know that this is a really old question and debate since the beginning of Japanese anime, but for fun and curiosity, do you prefer the original subs of media or the dubbed versions?
I actually prefer dubs now, since I got into language translation years ago. I like to hear how they "interpret" character voices, dialogue, concepts, themes, inflections, tone, etc. An example-the 4Kids dub wrote their Pokemon translations to be more "Americanized" and "more natural" for the English language (IE rewriting as much as translating) whereas the Pokemon Company's translation is more literal and faithful to the original Japanese version. Which version is better? It's fun to speculate!
I usually do dubs so I can have the show running while I draw. I guess sometimes the sub can be better just to hear the original voice actors and learn some Japanese. However, I have seen subs with bad or confusing translations.
I guess if you were someone who really cared about the original vision for the anime, you would learn Japanese and not rely on translated subs at all.

Yeah I prefer dubs for similar reasons though I will say I find more "faithful" dubs released these days to be kinda dull, like I miss the days where dubs would go in wild directions like with Sailor Moon, DBZ and 4Kids stuff in general.

SAME I liked watching the dub and sub of Tokyo mew mew/mew mew power and card captor Sakura/cardcaptors just BC they're so wildly different from their original versions they're basically their own shows.
I think it really depends on the anime sometimes the dub is really good, sometimes it sucks, sometimes there's a VA that just sucks so much I refuse to watch anything they voice in
some shows like miraculous ladybug, the release schedule is so random that I watch it in whatever language airs the new episode first. which is usually something like french, english, or brazillian Portuguese

Heck yeah, I LOVED Cardcaptors when I was younger, and still find it a guilty pleasure as an older individual, and it was pretty crazy to see NELVANA try to rush in on the anime craze, particularly the "collect the ____ thing" craze. And all of the 90sisms they stuffed in, like "let's start at episode 8 because there's a BOYYYYYY there so we can get in the BOYYYSSSSS." (LOL) And I STILL love that theme song CARDCAPTORS OF THE CLOW EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED NOW!!!!!!!!

They did Doremi dirty, though.
"oooh, you're a- a freaked out child in the woods..."

Meanwhile, Doremi is STILL getting new merch and new animated sequences 20+ years after its premiere. It's wild how POPULAR it still is over in Japan (among other places), while here....it basically aired a handful of (questionably) dubbed episodes, then dropped off, and that was IT for the franchise. Doremi is a BIG deal abroad!

Yeah, if only we could get a more faithful localization...
