Last night, I found a contact for the editor of the film. What should I say to him?
I would recommend you read Ziggy Cashmere’s “The lost media and research handbook” to know how to write a message to someone. Just make sure to send them to us and let us check them before you send the message to the editor, alright? This could be our only lead in a while.
One tip of advice is to have a real-sounding email name to ensure they pay attention to you in the first place and don’t assume you’re spam, and to also not tell them you’re part of a lost media community or a search at all.
Additionally, don’t just demand something be given, just ask them about said scenes/cut, ask if it still exists or if they have it, and THEN ask if maybe you can have a copy, and be sure to sound sincere about it, like “I’m a huge fan of this movie and the work that went into it, and I’d love to get the chance to watch some deleted scenes” or something.
Keep in mind it could take them weeks to see your email.

Additionally, I would recommend you ask and inquire about the deleted scenes first, like what happened in them, why they were cut, just establish a pleasant talking environment and stuff. Also, don’t start with “to whom it may concern”, as it sounds too formal and pretentious.

You should have sent what you had planned to send here first, as well as the email address, so that we could all give input. You have instead sent an email all on your own accord, the contents of which, we have not seen, nor have you shared the email address or editor's name, or even how you found it. Please post the contents of your email, and in future, do so before you just decide to rush in and send another to anybody, applies to other searches too. Without knowing what you said, or to whom, it could cause a good lead to die instantly.

The editor's name is John Venzon, I found it on LinkedIn. I took the approach of saying that I was a fan with a few questions.

Alright. Just be sure to update us when possible, and hopefully you did at least listen to the advice I gave.
