Yeah... I think my dad had one of them in the Attic. It wasn't the Zelda one because I remember it being really shiny. That was around 2009 I think. I don't know if it's still there but if I can find it I'll post a photo.

I'm just waiting for some collector to buy a standard gold Minish Cap SP never opened, make an unboxing video, find one of the slips to redeem the 24K SP, and wonder what the heck to do with it now.
Out of nowhere we got some new vital information regarding this mystery.
Someone contacted me on Twitter with a video supposedly showcasing one of the GBAs, so I watched it and it didn't really display much.
However, the comments section proved more useful because the uploader claimed they won it from eBay UK, and that he had talked to a Nintendo rep who actually oversaw production of them.
I asked for him for the sources, and believe it or not he did supply me with thr original auction, and the conversation with the Nintendo guy (named Simon Watts)
Simon confirmed to me that he believes the GBAs were packaged in standard GBA boxes, without certificates or anything special.
Additionally, he says the GBAs were made out of a metal material and coated with the gold, meaning that it would be pretty easy to tell them apart from custom plastic gold plates.
He doesn't remember the winner's names or anything, but believes the one from that old Spanish forum and the new one in the video I mentioned earlier are indeed the real thing.
This means they were made, distributed, and out there somewhere. And now we have a better idea on how to identify them, as they would feel much different than a normal GBA.
While this sorta closes the mystery regarding their release and identification, it would still be cool to know who won them or where the remaining 5 are now.
