I'm actually kind of in the middle, I enjoy it but I wouldn't call it my favorite Christmas film(As it does have some pacing issues in the first two acts IMO, I can see why I got kinda bored and restless watching it as a kid).
To be fair it makes less since due to several cut scenes.
Said scenes can be found on most TV airings.
Ah was not aware there was an extended TV cut, but the live-action Cat in the Hat had one as well so I suppose that makes sense, would you happen to have a link to those scenes?

I’ll have to check.
Only reason I know them is that my English teacher in 7th grade showed a TV recording of the film on the day before Christmas break.
Was a big Powerpuff Girls fan back in the 2000's but sadly my parents couldn't afford cable around those times. Days ago I watched random clips on YT and that was a gateway drug to binge full episodes.
I caught up on my childhood by finally finishing the live-action Grinch movie, I saw about two-thirds of it at a friend of my parents house(I think we had to leave before I could finish it or something like that) and I remember being kinda restless and bored during it as it wasn't what I was expecting but watching it now as an adult I can definitely appreciate it a whole lot more(especially with how forgettable and unremarkable the Illumination film is).
Funny enough, that was actually the preferred version at my house, I had/have relatives who could practically quote it. We saw it at the theater when I was younger and I...liked it? I think? Maybe I just liked the sets and costumes, especially on the mega big screen XD But as an adult, I too can appreciate it much more with it really trying to do its OWN thing.

Ah hello to the "no cable" crowd! I have a big gap in my own viewership in the 00s since that's we basically moved away from my relatives and their cable. Mainly mid 00s shows like Codename Kids Next Door or Billy and Mandy, and practically the whole Nickelodeon catalogue from that time (save some Spongebob and Fairly Oddparents). I think between C:KND and B&M, I've seen a combined total of like 2-3 hours of episodes.
I also lack later PowerPuff girls episodes, really any episodes post 2000 or so.
Same with Foxbox stuff, since we didn't get Foxbox on my local Fox station. I'm actually finishing up Sonic X at the moment, and plan to binge the Kirby show next!
I did some binging on Youtube, but we mostly did those random episodes that would be available for free on Xfinity, free episodes on the Cartoon Network website, and later those box sets from the local library. Resourceful!
So I used to check out demo and preview folders on old CD computer games. With emulators and LPs, I have finally been able to play/watch some of these games from my childhood that I only saw a snippet.
One that fascinated me was Stay Tooned!
I played through it and I felt like a piece of me became complete. This game is batshit crazy and a bit underrated.
Oh, demos, nice! I remember those, more for consoles, but I imagine PC had them too.
I need to actually get past the first town on Oregon Trail 3 someday. I was supposed to talk to someone in town (to be able to leave the town) according to the booklet but could never figure out WHO I was supposed to talk to and gave up XD

It was weird playing the Fatty Bear demo because it's different than the final game. I was so used to the demo version so it was very jarring.

My parents probably could've afforded it but we lived in a rural area where it just wasn't offered for the longest time and by the time cable actually did come here streaming was becoming and I lost all interest in live cable TV.
I watched the shit out of FoxBox and Kids WB(Though I lost interest in the latter after Yugioh and Pokemon ended on there as stuff like Chaotic just didn't interest me personally).

Yeah I think I would have hung on longer to Foxbox if we had had it, but I was basically done with Kids WB by 2004. I ended up just sleeping in on Saturdays mostly, my younger sib would sometimes be in the living room watching that NBC Discovery Kids block or a random cartoon DVD and I might stop in and watch some with them.
And like your perception, all the other networks had mostly discarded their cartoon blocks too, or replaced them with media that didn't really interest me. No, I didn't particularly want to watch a lot of reheated cable stuff on my network TV, just made me WANT cable, thank you.
Cable has had some value to my family (especially with all the hiked prices for streaming now), but it just doesn't beat the convenience of streaming.
i pretty much had the opportunity to watch television and do stuff typical kids would, but from as far as i could remember i was usually on my computer or phone. i do remember watching spongebob on tv, not sure what timeframe that was, but i wasnt paying that much attention.
so lately (as in at least a few years ago) i started "catching up" on my childhood by reading comics (that are catered mostly towards kids) and watching cartoons that i find interesting. i dont know if im actually "catching up" to my childhood, moreso im just trying to fill in that empty part of my life that i don't really remember.
hope im wording this right lol
čtyřlístek fan (out of 2 including me). im on discord aswell.

Hey there's no shame in watching and enjoying "child" or "family" media you never got access to! I'm doing the same with Foxbox shows, since we didn't get Foxbox on our local station. I'm almost done with the Kirby show. I don't recall if I ever actually finished Digimon Season 2 either, so that's likely on the docket. I would love to put in Codename: Kids Next Door or Billy and Mandy next, since I have a whole gap for both those shows (only seen random episodes). My parents mostly had me read a lot in my spare time, which TBH wasn't the worst idea. I read a lot of bangers thanks to them. Never read much comics outside of the "funnies," some Archie Sonic, and a tiny bit of manga, so I would love to read more Asterix or Valerian at some point. I still need to finish the WITCH series-WITCH was definitely a "no go" in my super religious household in particular LOL

Although I haven't had the time due to work on various things, I have thought about binging a bunch of shows and movies most of which being Disney movies that I either watched but don't remember or never watched at all.
A few years ago I got into a few of the Megaman games like Legends and Battle Network, both games I see as something I would've been really into when I was younger.
Gravity Falls was a show I finished up a few months ago that I'm surprised I didn't watch much of when I was a kid since I had the channel for it.
And right now I'm doing a playthrough for Phoenix Wright and Cave Story.

I actually never watched much of the Disney afternoon since we had limited access to cable growing up. So I don't feel nostalgia for a bunch of those properties in particular. Since "Disney" covers such a WIDE range of media, it's pretty interesting to compare and contrast about how you feel about a particular Disney piece compared to how other feels.
