And no shame in trying to find more obscure stuff, I used to peruse AnimeNfo (or TV Tropes or Wikipedia or anime blogs or other sites) for hours (if not days and weeks) just finding weird shows that either never made it to the USA, or were just not talked about widely. The first "major" anime I watched that sticks out in my mind (outside of like Digimon) was actually Uta Kata, which like no one has heard of or discussed, and while it is flawed, it's a favorite of mine. But I can say that WHILE also saying that I enjoy Naruto (to some extent) and not feel like a sellout.

Sorta related; I generally hate people that have YouTube channels that exist JUST to cash in on the latest trends & media. I'm not talking people like MrBeast or Markiplier, those guys are fine in my books. I'm talking more obnoxious channels such as Lankybox, POMNI - Minecraft(Gooseworx & GLITCH in particular have said that they HATE those content farm channels but can't do anything about them due to the channels claiming to be """""parodies"""""), 2 alt-right otaku channels whose names shall not be said lest their rabid fans kill me & leave my corpse in a deep, dark forest, maybe the Euphoric Bros. channel considering they made Garten of BanBan as a cash grab game, Aphmau, etc.

These channels SOLELY exist to just shove out shlock that has to do with the latest trends & media with no effort or real soul, each in their own unique & awful ways. Those 2 otakus in particular are ones that I know a lot about because I had the misfortune of having been subbed to one of the 2 before(will not specify because, again, rabid fans will kill me) & thus have heard of them just make 1-2 minute crap about Genshin Impact or whatever shonen anime is trending & some like, Twitter drama. After a while, it became tiring to see it all in my feeds & eventually I unsubbed because it looked like it'll just get worse.

The rest I don't have as much experience with since I am THANKFULLY an intelligent enough person to avoid such garbage, but The Beak has done various videos on such awful stuff before, so here are some videos he did about these trend chasers:

ah you mean content farm channels, yeah those are quite an annoying nuisance as they often clog up your recommended sidebar. People tend to focus a lot on Illuminaughti and SSSniperwolf but they're far from the only offenders on the content farming front.

Honestly I hate all fandoms because I think being part of a fandom is fundamentally embarrassing.

And keep in mind, you're talking to someone who has nearly 10,000 posts on a Pokémon forum, collectively has made over 10,000 posts on a Super Mario forum, and once had over 30,000 posts on a Transformers forum (before they suffered a catastrophic data loss that meant they lost everything), so I am very much active in fandoms.

I love learning about different cultures around the world, Japanese included. Despite enjoying watching videos on Japan and what life is like there, I don't really watch anime all that much.

I used to watch Naruto and DBZ when I was younger but none of the new stuff really interests me. Sometimes I might watch something with yokai in it because I just find that lore interesting. But school girls with rainbow hair? No thank you.

I despise a lot of ROBLOX-related fandoms. They always end up finding a way to become a toxic cesspool.

The PHIGHTING! fandom is a very notable example of this. It's been a while since I've played it, but I tend to focus on the shipping aspect of it. Shipping discourse and even people bashing others just because of what they ship. Same goes with people that ship things that would otherwise be considered incestous or abusive.

I don't know what it is with ROBLOX and having some of the worst people exist on its platform. There's either people that are insufferable at best or some of the most dangerous people to be around at worst.

But surprise, the Scottish in particular were basically responsible for the British Empire becoming a thing to begin with. The personal union between English and Scotland was initiated by the Scottish throne and many of the British Empire's most powerful aristocrats were Scottish. It's insane how many influential figures in Western history were born in Scotland.

Even further, there's a common misconception that Anglo-Saxon culture "killed" Gaelic culture in Scotland, but that's not fully true. In fact, Scotland had been going through a process of anglicization beginning in the 11th century, and by the 16th century, the English language was the predominant language in all of the Lowlands, much of its midlands, and the northeast coast. I actually don't hate the community. But I felt it has gotten worse compared to decades ago. So much drama and the market is such a mess. Some anime figures are worth $100+ in comparison to mass produced small plastic animals. I'm all for serious collecting but I feel deep inside capitalism ruined the fun for kids who just want to play with toys. Also I really loathe the term "Main 5."

Speaking of anime figures. The hobby spaces can get so toxic. There's this one forum I used to religiously go on that feels like social media. Collectors on there are too attached to anime and can get aggressive over some petty things.

Then there's gatekeeping such as the sentiment that Funko Pop collectors aren't considered collectors because they don't own a $300 FREEing booba bunny figure or booba lovers putting down on people who just want male figures. (female characters dominate the figure market) Dogpiling is SO common in the articles. I could go on about this website since it's a rabbit hole. Oh and the Discord servers are no better either.

Maybe somewhat connected to anime figures.

The BJD (ball-jointed dolls) community is really toxic. First, the dolls are really expensive, so someone who has a lot of them probably has extra funds for them. Some of them are limited releases which also can drive up people being elitist about their collection. This has lead to some noobies and poor people buying cheaper dolls off of Amazon. However those tend to be recasts (bootlegs) and anyone caught having one will be flooded with BJD fans telling you how horrible you are. I have heard YouTubers having to delete videos just to make the harassment stop.

They also get angry if you dare to compare BJD to a Barbie or other fashion dolls. I saw someone compare the prices of a Disney BJD ($1k) to a standard Disney collector doll ($75-$100) and some BJD fans were upset that someone dared to group the two together.

Seconded on SNL, you also get a lot of toxic alt-right fanboys whining about how SNL is "too political" now(which conveniently ignores the fact that the show has ALWAYS had political humor) anytime the show dares to rightfully mock the GOP or anytime it features comedians that aren't straight white dudes
