I’ll do some digging this coming weekend (busy at the moment) and see what I can find on who else might have been working there at that time. Early 2000s, right?
Yes, some time after For the Birds was complete judging by its inclusion.
Maybe we'll try more contacting before the pool?
If we were to pool our funds, how would we know how much they want for it?

Being that they've probably never, and likely never will, find any high value in a DVD that's many years old elsewhere, you could probably assume $150 or around that figure.
This was a private gift for pixar employees, this is not ment to be made public, If you want a personal copy not to rip or share online that is reasonable but this is not.
Try searching for the individual things, that will probably work out better.
I'm glad this topic is getting a lot of attention and discussion....I'd say it's probably moved to #1 on my lost media want list.
In regards to what's been said recently though, I think it's way too early to even be discussing a potential offer we'd make or pooling funds together. If there was an active eBay auction or something that's fine, but we don't even have any contacts yet who are entirely on board with helping us, or even have a copy at the ready.
Similarly, I don't think we can just smack a price on it arbitrarily. As a Nintendo merch collector, I've come upon many instances of rare or valuable items that require offers to be made, and in these cases I usually based my offers on similar items that have sold in the past. While we've only heard rumors of a past eBay auction for the DVD, some of my contacts have told me that the DVD was for sale in the Pixar Employee shop. If you go on eBay right now, you can see lots of other rare/exclusive items that were only for sale there. What I'm getting at is if we were to theoretically make an offer, I think we should base that off of other Pixar Store items that have sold in the past, give or take some $, etc. etc.
And in regards to the whole ethics on releasing it, this is where I sorta stand on it.
If we ended up getting our hands on it, I don't think I'd have any kind of problem releasing it- that's what the LMW does, and this is a search that people are interested in. Granted, we could be tasteful about its release, like starting small and ripping only the most important shorts, or passing around some links here and there until it sorta finds its way out there, rather than dumping the whole thing in one night and smacking it on the homepage of the site....though, even that wouldn't be the worst thing ever. The feeling I got from reading the contacts on this thread is that sharing it is more of a principle thing, and never did any of my contacts tell me that it was a forbidden thing that non-Pixar employees shouldn't be looking for.
Like, if that eBay listing is true...then already one of the "elite Pixar employees" broke the trust, not even including whatever the deal with Museum-guy is. I highly doubt Pixar would care at all about some random old shorts finding their way online, and if they do....well it wouldn't be the first found media removed from the internet.
On a final note, I'll DM you the names of some of the more important people I found TomGyroid and perhaps post some of my dead end contacts here if anyone wants to take a crack at contacting them.

LSSQ, if you don’t mind, definitely post some of your contacts here. I’ll see what I can do later this weekend.

Sure thing royaltalon76 here are the bulk of the bigger names that resulted in dead ends. Essentially all of these people fit precisely into the specifications of having worked at Pixar in the early 2000s when the DVD was available, and also no longer work there as part of my theory.
Every name here I have contacted on Twitter through a public tweet only- none of them replied, none of them have DMs open, and I could not find any other kind of contact for them. Best of luck with getting in touch with these guys to all who attempt.

Would you be making a video on this topic? I joined this a bit late and I've read through the forums. Would be great to hear your opinion on it. Seems like this may be a difficult find as anyone from Disney and Pixar is pretty quiet.
I do plan on making a video eventually, but as of right now there isn't enough information/details to put one together. Honestly I'd say we're still in the infancy of the search, and if you've read this thread then you're pretty much entirely up to date with the topic.
Thanks for your assistance in this LSSQ! I can try sending an email to the guy you mentioned in DM explaining our perspective in wanting the DVD.
To the person suggesting searching for the things individually, remember that the Apple Mac ad, Bug's Life Ponkikkies, other Toy Story 2 on-set interview and ABC Toy Story bumpers that aren't the Treats are things I've yet to have heard about outside of their existence on the DVD. Plus there's like around 80 of those Pixar commercials. This DVD may not be easy to acquire, but it seems logical to try and get the one thing containing all this content in one place first before giving up and searching for the 100+ items through other means.
Just a small update, I did some more searching and found two more promising contacts. Both no longer work at Pixar (though did around 2001), and seem to be pursuing other interests that make a sale or rip of the DVD seem likely, if they have a copy.
Additionally, I was able to find someone by the name of Tim Milliron who fits all the same criteria I've been searching with. However, the only contact I could get for him was a Twitter, with no option to DM, and his most recent post being from February.
If someone wants to they can send him a tweet. Interestingly though, it seems he was close friends with Oren Jacob who didn't want to share his DVD, so I'm not sure if this would have an influence on Tim.
I also saw Tim tag Tom Sanocki, who is another name we couldn't get in touch with. So at the very least this guy has connections.

Yeah. If Tim can't really do anything himself, you could at least get him to ask the others he has connections with. However, Oren could be an obstacle.
Here's a song dedicated to the people we really work for, and that's the CIA. Lock the doors; you're all under arrest.
I own a copy of this DVD. I got it from my aunt a couple years ago from a stack of DVD's a friend gave her (the stack also contained a Monty Python and the Holy Grail DVD). No clue where her friend got it from. And just in case anyone thinks I'm fooling around, I can send you a picture of the DVD. I am %100 honest. I'm watching the Sesame Street stuff they did back in 1991 that's included on the DVD.
