I use to go to the McDonalds Playplace all the time as a kid. Even had one of my birthday parties there. They tore the whole restaurant down a few years ago and its now just a sad empty space.
I've noticed it seems to be a trend with modern restaurants tearing down their playgrounds, or not building them in the first place. Feels sad to see, I know a LOT more families are too mega busy now to eat inside, fast food has gotten pricey in a lot of places, and those playplaces likely cost a fair bit to maintain too, but still feels sad nonetheless.
I personally LOVED the Burger King playplace when I was younger, not sure if that one exists anymore. Many fond memories of playing with the Pokemon toys and spending what felt like hours there.
With the playplaces I feel like it's mainly due to hygiene issues that they aren't so popular anymore, ball pits in particular are breeding grounds for all kinds of germs. Honestly those places never appealed to me as a kid, I can't remember even venturing inside one.
It's not exactly a location I've been enthusiastic about but I know others are and it's the bridge from the credits sequence of FLCL, it still exists but as of recent it's been shut down and closed off to pedestrians as it's getting ready to be demolished.
I grew up in the midwest, and there was this mall that my parents used to take me to when I was little and we would just walk through it to get out and about. The mall itself was mostly dead, but they did still have a movie theater and several shops, like a Burlington Coat Factory, that were still open until the mall was closed. It also had this indoor play-place/kiddie arcade-type thing with an ape mascot that I had my 4th birthday party at. My family has some pictures from the party, and in one of them I'm sitting in this flying banana kiddie ride they had there. I saw Bee Movie at the movie theater there, as well. I remember the carpets probably the most distinctly. They were in the most 90s patterns possible, and there were several different styles of carpet scattered all over the mall. Think about every movie theater/bowling alley carpet from the 90s and early aughts. That's what they all looked like. I used to stare at the floors while we walked, mesmerized by the colors and designs.
This is what the mall looked like on opening day. Imagine this, but more vacant by around the mid-2000s.

I believe a lot of fast food places in my city still have playgrounds inside, for ex: Chick fil a, I see a playground thats really tall still up and open. i can see why they close them due to sanitary reasons, I have heard crazy shit about ball pits and how its literally swimming in germs.

Well, even the Chick-Fil-A locations are starting to eliminate their playplaces during renovations. My local location used to have one until they renovated about two years ago, when they reused the space for expanded seating.

I didn't know CFA had playplaces, seems to kinda go against the whole church thing.

Yeah, quite bizarre, but I guess it was to cash in on the McDonalds playzones.

I'm lucky to live near one of the last Ponderosa Steakhouses in the country. It is good but not amazing - exactly what you'd expect from a chain restaurant, to be fair.
(I'm also a reasonable distance away from one of the last Bennigan's, but I've never been and can't speak to if it's any good.)
