I remember seeing this hotel in ads and always wanting to go😭
Yeah. Sorry you never got to go. I just looked it up, and the hotel still exists, but it’s just a generic holiday inn with a Water Park now. It has a 3.6 star rating on google.
Yeah hopefully I get one near me too, I remember when the locations in my area had arcade games, even had one of my birthdays there and invited a bunch of my school classmates, good times.
There was a Bahama Bucks near my home in San Antonio that closed do to COVID that I liked to go to during Elementary and Middle School.
Sometimes life is like this dark tunnel. You can't always see the light at the end of the tunnel, but if you just keep moving... you will come to a better place.
Obeying authoritarian regimes makes you complicit in them.
I use to go to the McDonalds Playplace all the time as a kid. Even had one of my birthday parties there. They tore the whole restaurant down a few years ago and its now just a sad empty space.

Toys R Us
I know they're not fully gone gone, but it's just not the same going to the Macy's at the mall (amusingly said mall is right across the street from where my local TRU was - it's a PGA Tour Superstore now. Went from a place for the kids and young-at-heart to a store that no one like that would even want to step into).
Yeah, I'm seeing the Toys R Us logo, and you've got 'I don't want to grow up, I'm a Toys R Us Kid!' painted on the wall, and you've tried to deco the whole toy section to feel more like a toy store rather than a department store, and you got a bench with my man Geoffrey the Giraffe sitting on it, but it's just not the same experience as it was going to an actual Toys R Us. I'm not gonna be wandering through the store just to see all the stuff they've got, it's just one section of a department store and that's it.

I wouldn't insinuate that golf is an anti-kid/young-at-heart sport. I used to know a kid who was into toy collecting and golf. The issue is more to do with the way the PGA operates and how affordable golfing venues have been shuttered over time.

When I was a kid, Blockbuster was the coolest place I’ve ever been to. The Blue and Yellow background, the endless isles of DVD’s, the smell, it was pure bliss. I used to live 5 minutes from one, so my parents and I would go often. The last time I visited was before it shut down in 2010-2013. My parents still have movies with the Blockbuster dvd covers around the house. I drive past the building where it used to be every now and again, and I remember the good times in silence.

Same here, last time I visited was 2014. I went there regularly from 2004 onwards.

Oh man, but Hastings was where it was at! We didn't frequent Blockbuster much as a family because the guy who owned it, traded one of my mom's favorite baseball players from The Mets?? Tbh I just think she owed a ton in fees.
Instead we went to Hollywood Video, a local rental store called Star Video (I think they had a great game selection too), and then eventually Hastings.
I miss the popcorn smell and renting bad B-movies because the cover was cool. That's why I saw Motel Hell as a kid.

I LOVED HASTINGS SO MUCH!!! I'm gonna miss the old Hastings that felt like a bookstore, as well as the newer Hastings that was basically an entertainment superstore. Oh, and I also remember going into Blockbuster and Movie Gallery a couple of times as well.
A town close to mine had one of the final remaining Sears in the world. I once went into it in the mid to late 2010s. Even then I knew they were rare. Sadly it has since closed and is now a bank
This Made me think if any of you have any places you loved that don't exist.
A former sears that used to by me actually despite being closed had its auto shop stay open.
The auto shop later became a Chick Fil A and the Sears became a Target.
Also a Kmart by me became like a Planet Fitness or something along those lines.

I've noticed it seems to be a trend with modern restaurants tearing down their playgrounds, or not building them in the first place. Feels sad to see, I know a LOT more families are too mega busy now to eat inside, fast food has gotten pricey in a lot of places, and those playplaces likely cost a fair bit to maintain too, but still feels sad nonetheless.
I personally LOVED the Burger King playplace when I was younger, not sure if that one exists anymore. Many fond memories of playing with the Pokemon toys and spending what felt like hours there.

I felt bizarrely sad to see our Kmart go, fine, it really wasn't anything "special" but they still had a game kiosk with a demo console plus a wonderful kids magazine section and that's all it took to make younger me truly happy.
I guess that I could say that this Burger King that I used to go to fits this title now. I remember going here either before or after almost all my out of town appointments because it was the only restaurant near me that had a playplace. Yeah, it was a small one, basically just some netting and some tubes with a slide, but I still liked it. I went to look at the BK on Google Maps to see if anyone uploaded a pic of the playplace (nobody did) and apparently it closed back in September of last year. RIP
