The Racket: One of the 1st Best Picture nominees ever, was released in 1951 & was lost for many years. It was eventually rediscovered years later & it was found out to be a generic & bland gangster movie. Houston AIDS PSA: Sadly doesn't involve Shinji nor Asuka. Instead it is just the usual kind of PSA for AIDS, just (thankfully) without some homophobia. Shadow: War of Succession for the 3DO: "Hey dudes, here's a game I have just dumped last night. It's a total crapfest of a fighting game with awful controls. There aren't even any fatalities despite the prompts. Anyways, enjoy this atrocity!"
the vast majority of best picture nominated films kind of suck IMO, so this one isn't a big shock at all, people had much lower standards for nominating films back then.
Also the 3DO fighting games that did see release were already pretty bad themselves, so of course an unreleased one was going to suck.
Shadow: War of Succession WAS released, just looked to have been one with VERY little information about it online, even after AVGN covered it in his Mortal Kombat Rip-Offs episode.
Dreams are boundless, imaginations are infinite, space is a multi-directional spiral & Akazukin ChaCha is my favorite anime
does dexter's rude removal count? it wasn't truly lost, but when adult swim finally dropped on their yt channel after years of hype it was a pretty big letdown

I was happy with it, I was amazed it even existed at all as I was convinced it was a hoax.

It was exactly what I expected. A shame the network got cold feet to air it at the last minute.
I'd say that, besides the historical context and backstory behind it, Blue Prints ended up being very underwhelming as its just a standard Blues Clues episode but Steve is wearing a different shirt and there's no sound effects. I'd say most found media from this year qualifies for me personally, as not much of it I personally found as interesting as previous years as it was mostly made up of commercials and preschool pilots, with the only one I found super interesting being the Super Why pilot for how different it was compared to the final show. While I am glad more obscure/hard to get lost media is being found, there's also a part of me that's a bit concerned as well on where the focus is going to. I'd love more on other kinds of media than just the preschool and commercial world.

As someone who actually really is fascinated by lost commercials and such, the Daft Punk Winter Olympics ad just turning out to be Winter Olympics footage with "Harder Better Faster Stronger" was very disappointing.

Yeah it wasn't disappointing at all, it's still the only release it's ever had and when it happened it helped make lost media itself more popular. It was lost for us, I remember when it was a few rumors of vague con appearances and forbidden lost episodes. I wouldn't have even been that surprised if it didn't exist
LSSQ is a great guy who's helped in a lot of searches, but sometimes he convinces himself something that's obviously fake is actually real and makes a mountain out of a molehill for everyone else, just because of how popular he is.
(That's not his fault, obviously, so I don't think anyone should be mad at him over it.)
_alexpine_ on discord. 2018 was HOW many years ago?!?! If RPGMakerFan12 is so good, why isn't there an RPGMakerFan13? lostmediawiki.com/User:BrightyLighty

This. right. here. The super why pilot, 41 second Cleopatra clip, and the hellrailer: bloodline workprint are the only actually interesting pieces of lost media that have been found this year.

There was a workprint of Hellraiser Bloodline found? When did that happen? Where can it be found and what were the differences from the released version?

Yeah, they recently uncovered a new one, and it can be viewed in the new “Quartet of Torment” release, which includes the first 4 films. I don’t know what the differences are, just that it’s not the original 110 minute cut. This particular workprint was assembled after Kevin Yagher left the project.

Ironically, I would add the gibby pilot, but maybe that's out of bias since I've been interested in that specific pilot for years now.
To add on to my previous statement, its really weird that all the interesting found media of 2023: gibby, cleopatra, turn - on to an extent, pretty much everything found this month. They're not getting like...any traction? As far as I can tell. At least not the traction they deserve.
