I recently came upon someone who is willing to part with a highly coveted piece of Lost Media for $4,000. Unfortunately, I was unable to pay that amount of money. I can do so via Private Message, and have done so for dycaite already. I don't want to do it here since I don't want to risk anyone who has no means or intentions to pay the seller harassing them over it, plus there's no public listing for it, the sales option was established via personal contact.

I agree, but I maintain that the $4,000 should be paid to the seller for it. I may personally not like that they want money for giving it away rather than doing it freely, but if that price is really what they believe it's worth than that's the price that should be granted to them. It's just a matter of respect.

Just saying, it would actually help your fundraiser if you weren't so secretive about it. And are you sure they'll give the goods if you pay them 4.000 dollars? I mean, not even your fundraiser has anything of a substantial description, how can people be "sure, I'll donate" if they don't even know what they donate to?

Good point. Altough why would a japanese seller with a good reputation would try to scam them is beyond me, but perhaps you're right.

Also, the pages included the script covers that had the legit titles, plus each bottom of the page has "23" or "24" respectively before the page number, since that was the number of those episodes: 23 and 24 of the gen V series.

Please do not donate to this fundraiser. This is ridiculous.

Regardless of the fact a stranger is asking for $4000 and just expecting people to donate this amount while being insanely vague about details for literally no reason, the asking price is far too high. The seller is a well known Pokémon fan who's even been featured in print media, though there's no reason to be so hush hush about this. OP is approaching this wrong and the actual seller needs to just list it for sale themselves. You shouldn't try and fund a private sale.

If you're at all serious about this, maybe share more details and stop trying to be secretive about this. There's 0 risk posed to yourself or the seller, though selling it is probably worse than sharing it publicly.

What I don't understand is that, the seller has openly shared scans of storyboards and anime cels in the past, why is this being gatekept at such a high cost? It's a disservice to preservation and I wouldn't bother lining the pockets of either the seller or the middleman.
I'm honestly more skeptical about OP than the seller honestly.
