The only image I can find of the anime movie; Necrodragon, is this promotional image from this ANN article. It doesn't have a page on my anime list, it also doesn't seem to have a wikipedia page or a LMWwiki page. Apparently a preview of the film was shown at Anime Expo 2008. Sony's A-1 Pictures doesn't list it as being a project they worked on.

Other than that ANN article the only other mention I've found of this film's existence is this Japanese blog post: moonphase.hatenablog.com/entries/2008/03/27 I was researching about another lost/cancelled anime called Robo Crosser and saw this link.

Robo Crosser was an anime announced at the 2008 Tokyo International Anime Fair by Telecom Animation Film and Disney's Jetix Division. Robo Crosser was planned to be 26 episodes and a trailer was shown but no animation has surfaced. Supposedly Telecom posted storyboards for first 3 eps. on their blog but they were not properly archived. I hope we can find more information about why these anime were cancelled.

I suspect the film was pretty far along in development considering that according to Anime News Network a preview was shown at Anime Expo in 2008.

Most of text in the photo of the large promo poster above is too small for me to read in English or in Japanese but Sony's A-1 pictures certainly had a lot planned that they were confident enough in to preview to the public.

English text on the left, describing some of the story: "Miraculously surviving the massacre, Shinobu takes up the identity of underground assassin "NecroDragon" to hunt down Kengo."

Characters (listed on the right side of the poster): Shinobu Ryuzaki, Megumi Soga, Yuri Kazama, Kengo Kaji & Naoya Aoki. I can't make out any of the text next to the characters but it might mention who each character's voice actor was going to be.

Transcription of the Japanese text on the right side of Shinobu's face (hopefully I got it right, there were a few kanji I had to look up.) :
「奇跡的に生き延びた竜畸忍は、闇の殺し屋 "ネクロドラゴン”となり黒幕・梶を追う。」
My English translation of the large Japanese text on the post (on the right side of Shinobu's face) : " A dragon shinobi that miraculously survived becomes the dark killer "NecroDragon" and pursues mastermind Kaji."

I wish this photo was higher quality so that it was more legible. Hopefully, we can find more info about the animation preview that was shown at Anime Expo in 2008. It would also be interesting to find a schedule for the con that year and see what the panel's description was.

Unfortunately, despite my search efforts I still haven't been able to find a definitive answer to that. According to ANN something was shown to the public at Anime Expo 2008, so that could have been a test animation, or even a full fledged trailer for the project.

I guess for now the best thing to do would be to find a program/schedule-book for Anime Expo 2008 and see if the panel did indeed appear on the schedule.

Raising awareness about this lost anime elsewhere online would also help, Anime Expo is a very popular anime convention and I bet there are more photos online or we can find someone that went to that panel.

I still would like to find a scan of program/schedule book from Anime Expo 2008 to verify if a there was a panel held or if there was a vendors hall booth or somewhere where the preview was shown by Sony's A-1 Pictures.

Takaharu Ozaki is the co-creator and director of Necrodragon and is still active in the anime industry today. My plan is to try to e-mail him in Japanese, which will take quite a while because I want to triple check (with Native speakers) and make sure my e-mail is up to professional standards before sending it.

I'm still working on composing an e-mail in Japanese to Takahara Ozaki and getting checked with some native speakers friends, so no new updates on that except that I'm still working on it.

There's a lot of information (press releases, news, reports, photos) about Anime Expo 2008 here: animecons.com/events/info/1351/anime-expo-2008 If anyone else wants to help me out with searching for mentions of Necro Dragon that'd be super helpful, it's a lot of information to go through.
