Hi!
in the year 2000, there was a Japanese sketch comedy show called vermilion pleasure night. there would be a few different segments per episode, and some reoccured each episode. I've been watching the show, but I can't find ANYTHING on any episodes past episode 5. There were 25 episodes in total, but it seems only 5 of them got released onto DVD by ADV pictures. I don't know how it got released physically in Japan, but I'm guessing they released the whole show, as it seemingly was pretty popular when it came out. I'm also not sure why only 5 episodes were released in America. does anyone have any idea where to find the rest of the episodes, or are they just lost?
Interesting! I've never heard of this, I'm intrigued. Here are uploads of episodes 1 ~ 5 for those interested: www.dailymotion.com/video/xnf6a3
Here's VPN's official English website: vpn-tv.net/english/index.html According to the English Wikipedia page this show aired on the Anime Network, there was also a spin-off called The Fuccons. A.D. Vision (ADV) released three volumes on DVD which had an English dub option. Considering that ADV films went out of business much of their releases and dubs are rare/lost. I'm not sure if all the episodes/segments were released on the ADV DVDs vs. the Japanese ones. Just from a quick ebay search the ADV DVDs are a bit expensive to purchase online, but it looks like the Anime Network has three episodes streaming on amazon prime. I don't have prime so, can anyone deny or confirm if these include the ADV English dub or if they're subbed and if so are the subtitles different than the uploads on dailymotion? The uploads on dailymotion could be a fansub or they could be the ADV official subs.
Here's VPN's official Japanese website:www.vpn-tv.net/ The Japanese Wikipedia page states that it aired on TVTokyo, TVOsaka, TVAichi, Channel NECO and Yahoo!Eiga (movie). In 2002 there was also a film version of the show called The Color of Life with extra skits and extended scenes that weren't in the main show. I wonder if ADV ever subbed or dubbed The Color of Life before they liquidated their assets in 2009. There's also a CD called "RISE - Vermilion Pleasure Night" that I don't think was ever released outside of Japan.

I checked mine and they are currently unavalible. IIRC anime network was something ADV ran so it would make sense if it just didn't exist anymore

or maybe this isn't the same thing? I checked the anime network page 'n they have more then just anime.

Anime Network was owned by ADV but now both are owned by AMC Networks Inc. So I'm assuming the 3 episodes on amazon prime were uploaded by AMC or HIDIVE, LLC. "In June 2017, Section23 Films announced it would discontinue the Anime Network Online streaming service and focus solely on Anime Network's pay television and subscription VOD services. HIDIVE, LLC, a new company which is not affiliated with Anime Network, Section23, or Sentai Filmworks, acquired Anime Network Online's assets and spun them off into a new streaming service called HIDIVE. On June 20, 2017, Anime Network Inc. announced it acquired the "www.theanimenetwork.com" domain name from Anime Network Online." - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anime_Network
The 3 episodes on amazon prime are unavailable to me too but I thought it was because I don't have prime. Hm, I guess those 5 dailymotion uploads are all the episodes we have for now. By the way, here's the discogs listing for the CD: www.discogs.com/release/13957603-Various-Rise-Vermilion-Pleasure-Night I'll keep digging and see what else I can find, might just purchase the DVDs (I only see Vol. 2 & Vol. 3 on ebay right now) and rip them, upload the English Dub and Sub to archive.org. Even after doing that though it's still clear if these are all of the episodes of Vermilion Pleasure Night.

the only thing i can think of as to finding if the DVD's have all the episodes is maybe seeing if we can contact someone from ADV that worked on this? like a producer or something?
Unfortunately I can't purchase those DVDs right now, but if they stay up for a while we'll see. I'm still searching around to see if anyone else has uploaded them anywhere, I'm also searching Japanese sources.

That's a good idea, perhaps you can find someone on twitter or e-mail one of the staff or even voice actors (English Dub) that worked for ADV at the time the DVDs came out. I can't seem to find a cast list for the English Dub anywhere though. I'm pretty familiar with the dubbing ADV did though, and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Spike Spencer was one of the voice actors.
I was hoping that IMDB would have some more information on this show but there's really nothing, not even any reviews. It does mention an alternate version, which I'm assuming is the ADV release: "The American release of the show condensed the show's 25 half-hours into 5 hour-long episodes, removing many of the sketches in the process." - www.imdb.com/title/tt1815553/

i bought one of the ADV DVD'S (vol. 3 because volumes 1 and 2 had been bought already) gonna watch it tonight/tomorrow night and see if there are sub diffirences. it also comes w/ the color of life movie, which, to my knowledge, isn't online at all.
Second auction seems just be the bonus cards taken from a limited DVD release, there appears to be volumes 1-5 available on DVD in Japan. This may be from the same source ADV used, as a common complaint ADV had was that they just got VHS tapes to work off of and not the original master tapes. (It may have been released on VHS too. It's not just ADV's complaint, but other examples are not pertinent here.) It may also be true that that was all that was released in Japan and what OP thinks of as "episode 5" is actually "the 5th DVD". Wikipedia indicates that there was also a compilation movie that got a DVD release.
Apologies if others have already covered the information in this post.

yeah, I was gonna try to order a DVD off of yahoo.jp but for some reason they said it couldn't be shipped to me? unfortunatly, according to IMDB, ADV cut a lot of skits out of the episodes for some reason.

If this helps any, I use Zenmarket as a third party between me and YAJ.

We found some audio of a missing sketch, and some videos too. I'll upload them later today
