fingers crossed on this! we went from having literally only one image in existence to actor names, air dates, production companies, we've come so far!
Yeah I agree, it's pretty impressive how much we've found. I'm hoping that the new big step will be actual footage of the show. I just remembered something, in mid-2015 when I first researched this show. I recall that there was a website with a few names of My Special Book episodes. It was one of those episode guide websites. I believe the site shut down in early 2016. Shame. Maybe we can find an archive of it. But I forget what the site was called.
Also that's very sad about Melanie York. From googling her, it seems like she worked on a lot of kids shows before getting ALS. She worked on The Big Comfy Couch at one point.
Wow that is great new information. We have found more people who worked on the show, and now the actress. Also yep, that is most definitely the same Krista Johnson who played Book Girl. Still has the same-looking face. Even watching some of her PJ footage, you can easily tell.
Yeah, she does! Book Girl was basically Krista Jackson with the enthusiasm turned up. Has somebody contacted her yet? If not, I can do it.
From my knowledge, nobody has contacted her. So sure, go ahead. It seems that she has involvement in a theater company nowadays.
Alright, so according to Michael, Book Girl was played by Krista Jackson, who was a YTV host. The voices of the puppets were also done by Jennifer Racicot who was another YTV host.
If I've found the right Krista Jackson, then this would be her and her website: www.kristajackson.com
Both were Program Jockeys (PJs) way back in the early days of YTV. Jennifer's segments date back to 1995. I'm sure either of them may have footage of themselves in the show.

Wow, coming back to this thread. I'm impressed by the new info found about this show. When I heavily researched this show, I didn't find any of this. Now that we have 2 guys who worked on the show. That opens up a bunch of new information. I had no clue My Special Book had 90 episodes.
I remember around 2 years ago, when I just started remembering this show. I posted a comment on YouTube asking if anyone else remembered it. Some guy commented and claimed that he had hundreds of hours of Treehouse footage on VHS, and was "absolutely positive" My Special Book was on it. He told me that he will upload it when he can put VHS tapes onto YouTube. It got me very excited. But then he randomly deleted his YouTube channel and I never heard from him again. Disappointment.
This definitely looks like a strange show... then again a lot of older children's shows were strange, though I don't see how this is nightmare fuel, though one or two kids probably got scared by it.
The actual show was pretty weird. But that's not what scared most of the children who watched it. The intro is what frightened many children, that huge wrinkly hand slowly rising to the top of the screen. Imagine it being late at night and seeing that as a child.
So this show was created by YTV productions in the late 90s and played on YTV for a few years. I'm guessing Treehouse eventually picked it up after YTV stopped airing it.
Haha I'm glad to see a post about this. Yeah this show was odd. Very bright-colored and trippy as you said.
I remember the intro of the show where it showed the actress opening the huge book and saying something like "It's storytime!". Then inside the book there were weird characters/faces all over the walls (Like you said). I remember that doorbell with a face and then I remember a clock which had a really annoying voice imo. There was definitely many other characters that I don't remember as well, again this was a very long time ago I watched this show. The show consisted of the girl telling some short story and communicating with all of the weird characters on the walls. It was a VERY short show and it ended quickly. I don't remember any of the stories she told. The outro involved her closing the book.
I find the total lack of any information/footage of this show pretty strange. Especially when most old Treehouse shows are posted on YouTube. There has to be someone out there who was this show on VHS, since this show did run between other shows.

Yeah haha My Special Book. That show should be an entirely new thread in my opinion. It's completely lost and there's practically no info on it except the people trying to figure out what it was called. And there's only one picture of it. Max the Cat is lost too but at least it has a bit of info and the intro is on YouTube, just no actual episodes.
Yes, I remember this show. And I personally found it a little bit terrifying. Mostly that intro. Just something about that huge hand raising to the top of the screen was super unsettling. The rest of the show I found pretty trippy and odd. But it was something that had never been done before. I'll admit it was pretty good effects for its time.
This show started airing on Treehouse around 2000/2001, and I clearly remember it stop airing sometime around 2006. So it ran for quite a few years. All of the episodes were made in the years of 2000-2003 and then the reruns ran for a few more years after. You can find some vague information about the episodes of this show (All of the titles and the release dates of them). There were about 3 seasons of this show and these episodes were pretty short. Pretty much all of these episodes are completely lost, and only their titles and release dates can be found.
I believe this show ran on Treehouse TV in between bigger shows to fill up time during commercial breaks, as I said before the episodes were pretty short in duration. Land O' Hands ran along with other short shows like Max the Cat (Lost), My Special Book (Lost) and many other really short shows on Treehouse. Some lost and others can be found on YouTube.
So yeah, this show is pretty lost. There is some info on this show, but you have to dig pretty deep to find most of it. You can also find some people discussing this show. But footage-wise, 99.99% of the episodes are completely lost.
