My two cents on the matter is that if the show were released through any other platform it would not have the controversy it got. But the fact that it was distributed on a platform for anime, and insisted it could be compared to other, actually far more queer shows, kind of torpedoed its status. Besides, it rings a little hollow coming from a nation which has famously done everything in its power too erase gay representation in anime, continuing even up to the present day. Shows like Zombieland Saga and Sarazanmai are far better at dealing with these kinds of themes, fuck, literally half the cast of Sarazanmai is queer in some way!
Also Slimeboy is precious and should have been the main character of the show.

"oooh, you're a- a freaked out child in the woods..."
I wonder if everybody would have gotten as mad if your initial posts had explained all that. I obviously can't make any guarantees, but maybe they wouldn't have filled in the blanks by assuming the worst.
comparing a light-hearted cartoon to war propaganda certainly ranks among the worst comparisons i've ever seen online.
I don't know why it's not clicking, but I'll explain it again.
Wreck wasn't comparing the shows directly, but his emotional responses to them.
One of them had a harmful message about a group he was a part of, and the other he couldn't take seriously.
Ahhhh yes, making words up on the fly. Man Darkage must be trying to get me put down under. Well I ain't letting him stop me; besides, I'm probably the only one here who uses Beepbox or custom Jetpack levels.

Clickbait is a real word dumbass, not making anything up: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clickbait At least I don't randomly blather on about asinine nonsense that has nothing to do with the actual topic at hand like you do all the time which you've already been criticized for numerous times, (seriously nobody cares about what you do in Deepbox or Jetpack, that has zero relevance to anything that was said here)

I know clickbait is a real word. It's clickbaity that is a made up word, which is something I usually reserve for jokes instead of using it without any sense of it being somewhat comedic, thus making someone sound rather unprofessional. Besides that's kind of a generic variant of the word "clickbait".

Oh please it's a variation of the word and i've seen others online use it so i'm hardly the first so it's not "made up" just cause a dumbass troll like you says so, you can screw right off with your "unprofessional" nonsense idiot. You what's actually "unprofessional"? Randomly derailing threads by talking about whatever asinine nonsense comes into your head even if it has nothing to do with the actual topic of the thread whatsoever, you've been called out for that multiple times and it's funny how you conveniently didn't acknowledge that when I called you out on it in my previous post.

What you said really shows that we're not really improving all that much, instead only making things worse by making crap like that show meanwhile still censoring LGBT representation in anime despite there being definitive proof that, yes, LGBT+ people WATCH ANIME. It's not just some exclusive heterosexual male society like some people would like to make others believe. Like I said several times throughout the years, I am a fan of Akazukin ChaCha. Does that make me a heterosexual male? NO! That's a bunch of bullcrap!
Honestly, I think it's best that you hear more about how the US just loves to censor gay men & make sure that Western cartoons don't even include them at all, yet keep & fetishize lesbians like crazy from these 2 videos that ArteiceTB made last year: www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2gYwIP_Mkc www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtzDRogxg4U
Yeah, another reason to be angry at that cartoon. Really, really, REALLY bad choice of platform & ESPECIALLY bad timing!

The idea that society isn't improving just because you personally don't like a show is utterly asinine. Also WTF does the U.S. censoring have to do with anything here?

I agree that extreme is giving a, well, extreme reaction to this flash in the pan show that most of the internet has already forgotten about. A show like HGS existing is definitely the least of the worlds problems right now. I think the point about US censorship makes sense, though. It seems quite hypocritical to proudly boast about having a queer-animesque series while unprofitable representation in media like Evangelion is still subject to draconian 90s style censorship. It's like when oil companies flaunt their bare minimum contributions to green energy to try and save face for all their pollution

I don't agree with that personally and I don't really see the hypocrisy at all, Crunchyroll has nothing to do whatsoever with that censorship and they've presented anime uncut in it's original form so it seems consistent to me, they're not in any way in charge of say stuff like Star Vs Forces of Evil getting censored. Getting mad at HGS over that just seems like aiming at the wrong target to me, if you wan't to get annoyed at something get annoyed at those doing the censoring in the first place, attacking HGS and it's creators won't solve anything about that censorship.
I definitely don't agree with comparisons to oil companies at all, what they're doing is actively destroying the planet, a cartoon series being made by a streaming service that has absolutely nothing to do with censorship whatsoever isn't even in the same ballpark.
That stupid Hey Arnold creepy pasta theory if it counts. It always made mad.
Most creepypastas in general, never really got the appeal of stuff like Squidward's Suicide(and i'm glad the reference was removed from that one episode of Spongebob).

I didn't mind the reference, but I can see why it was edited out. I got super into them in 2010, and almost did my art concentration on Slenderman in high school, luckily I was talked out of it. Part of me wishes it did happen though, would have been funny to look back on. But yeah creepy pastas got old fast. I still see the Ed Edd n Eddy one pop up like it's actually good? I dunno, I'm being a snob but the Hey Arnold one deserves scorn imo. I don't like how they made the grandpa a pedophile to make it "edgy." Feels shitty.
