After watching Jordan Fringe's Pepper Ann retrospective, I was surprised to find out that the original short form comic strip it was based on, in YM Magazine, has not been archived anywhere online. After some research, I'd found that someone on this forum claimed to have posted some strips in a Discord server, but found nothing in said server. They did post something claiming to be the YM strips, but it turned out they were just Disney Adventures and Disney Chapter books layout art. Still really cool, but definitely not the original strips.
According to the video, the strips featured an older version of the character with a slightly different supporting cast.
I'd love to find these, as I'm a pretty big fan of the show. YM back issues, however, are pretty costly and we have no way of knowing what issues feature the Pepper Ann strip or if it was even called Pepper Ann and not something different.
Sue Rose, the showrunner, has no social media presence and Tom Warburton, the character designer for the show, didn't work on these. YM has also been out of print for years.
Does anyone out there have any idea where we could start a search for these?
I would love to find the original YM strips as I’ve been searching for them for years. Here are all the official Pepper Ann related artwork and comics I've managed to find over the years.: archive.org/details/pepper-ann-old-best-friend-digital-copy_202112 There is also a .pdf of one of the chapter books and a scan of some prototype stickers that were on ebay. I haven't managed to find all of them, especially not the comics strips from YM magazine, most of these were in Disney Adventure Magazine. The penciled comic pages are by Bernat Serrat. he was selling the original sketches on ebay.
As far as I know I run the only Pepper Ann fan discord server, and I don’t recall ever claiming that anything that I’ve found over the years are comic strips from YM Magazine for certain. With some of them I wasn’t sure which magazine they were in (specifically the penciled pages.) This is all that I’ve managed to find after years of searching and I’m happy to share. Hopefully we can find more Pepper Ann lost media. There’s also a lost Tiger handheld game, I’ve only managed to find the game manual.
(new user here, thanks in advance for your patience with me)
I have found (most of) these, courtesy of the Schlesinger Library at Harvard University! Their archive includes issues of YM magazine from 1992 through 1995, which I was able to request and photograph in person with a document camera. Here are my photos, and I'm working on submitting a formal scanning request to obtain better images. I'll post an update accordingly.
Some notes:
The comic was consistently printed with the magazine's regular "Say Anything" column, except in March 1995 when that column ran in an expanded format and the comic appeared elsewhere. Based on a review of all issues from 1992, I can confirm that the comic first appeared in the August 1992 issue.
The library's archives did not include the March 1993 issue, so this strip is missing. In addition, the "Say Anything" column on page 18 had been torn out of the library's copy of the April 1993 issue. Therefore, these two issues would be good to search for on secondhand buying sites or other library archives.
The library's final issue from our relevant period was from April 1995. A "special prom issue," which ran in early 1995, did not contain a strip. So, I'm unable to confirm the final strip in the series, and May 1995onward (through the end of 1995) might contain additional strips.
Also:
Nicky (though unnamed) shows up in some of the later comics -- no Milo, as far as I was able to see.

Hey there, I'm new to the forums. I was wondering if the March 1993 strip as well as the May to November (or December) 1995 strips (if they even existed) will be found by someone?
