Miyuki Kanbe (神戸 みゆき) was an actress, model and singer well known in Japan (and to international Sailor Moon fans) for playing Usagi Tsukino in the Sailor Moon stage musicials in the 2000’s.
Unfortunately, on June 18, 2008 at the age of 24 Kanbe Miyuki passed away after being in and out of various hospitals. It’s still unclear what illness she was battling but it was shocking that she passed away so young. She was incredibly talented and fans still remember her fondly today.
Kanbe did some voice acting in a few anime, many of which are very difficult to find information about. Only the titles of a few of these television anime are listed on wikipedia, the first one listed is: “Yume ☆ Ouen Tai” (2001-2002). My anime list doesn’t even have a page for this anime, although “Yume Ouen Tai” is mentioned on the side bar of her MAL page there are no links to any MAL page for that anime. The only anime she’s linked to (according to MAL) is Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, which she sang two songs for, and voiced a side character in ep. 34 (I haven’t seen this anime yet, but it’s easy to find online and I plan to watch it. If you’ve seen Mermaid Melody please correct me if I’m incorrect about that.)
Kanbe’s English wikipedia page is very sparse, and I also think some of the information is questionable. Kyoto Chiken no Onna is listed as one of the television anime that Kanbe voiced in, but from my research Kyoto Chiken no Onna is actually a live-action television drama. Similarly “Ikaring no Menseki”, “Baku NEW” and “LF+R Morning YOUNG JAPAN LIVE” both seem to have been live-action television/variety shows similar to TRL on MTV back in the day (am I showing my age? lol.) Anyway, there are clips of these live action shows on youtube. Kanbe’s Japanese wikipedia page give us more information but there is no link for the page “夢☆おうえん隊”/Yume Ouen Tai”. It’s also not listed as a TV anime, but in the 他/“other” section.
