Been wanting to make a thread about this for a long time but thought it was pointless since there was already one dedicated to lost Saban dubs in general but I might as well give this a shot.
Just to give a short summary: Tanoshii Willow Town (楽しいウイロータウン) is a 1993 anime adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s classic children’s book, The Wind in the Willows that ran for 26 episodes and in 1996, Saban decided to make an English dub for the series.
It only aired on 2 major channels as far as I’m aware: in Thailand on IBC 7 Cartoons from November 1996 to December 1997. And in Australia on Channel 10 within a kids block called Cheez TV from December 2000 to January 2001.
The dub is near completely lost and with an exception of the end credits, there’s nothing. No episodes, clips, not even the theme song.
It had been made with other languages like Spanish and German but they’re also pretty obscure. Spanish only have a couple episodes on Youtube while German just have the theme song dubbed in its language (it does also have 3 audio cassette tapes which is the only physical media the Saban dub has but they aren’t available to listen to).
Even tho it’s just a simple lost dub of an old anime, it’s one of my holy grails as I love The Wind in the Willows in general as apparent as it appears. I have been looking for this dub since the beginning of 2022 but I have no luck of getting closer to finding it. It’s a shame because I’m sure that it would be pretty good since it actually have some big voice actors involved like Kathleen Barr and Jayse Jaud.
If anyone have any leads, it would be great! Sadly can’t do much contacting tho due to dumb social anxiety thinking of a million things that can go wrong and I usually leave it to someone more experienced than I am (I did contacted the hosts of Cheez TV on Instagram months ago however but they haven’t read my message. I’m sure they’re more active on Facebook but I refuse to get Facebook).
