with this being my second thread, i wanted to bring up something that has been lost media for a very long time, with the most recent development being in 2013.
there was set to be an adaptation of the super-obscure but (highly beloved by me ) cult knowledge miniseries Mort the Dead Teenager, with talks beginning even before it had become a comic. initially it was supposed to be a movie first, but with the rise of comic adaptations in the early 90s, marvel thought it would be best if it were produced as such in the hopes that if it were tied to marvel, it would sell better.
several outlets reported on the news that marvel films were set to be adapted, including variety, fox news (for some reason?), and icv2. it started production in two places, with the studio initially being dreamworks, then it became a production in which tarantino was set to produce. footage was shot for the tarantino iteration, though there is none publicly available. at one point the footage was edited into a few trailers and shopped around, but none of them are available either. tv writer kevin biegel was said to have seen one, and posted about it in a now-deleted april 13th 2009 tweet.
and yeah, jessica simpson was in an iteration at one point (replacing dominique swain). elijah wood was set to play the titular character but due to conflicts with lord of the rings he wasn't able to shoot. regardless, sometime in 2013, the original creator/writer larry hama (of gi joe fame) posted an image to his facebook that he claimed was from yet ANOTHER pitch trailer that was being shot.
this is currently ANY of the known primary source documentation of any production or test footage. if anyone is mildly interested, i'd love to hear some suggestions on where any if it could be. this comic means a lot to me and it got me through tough times in my life.
