Hi all.
This one has been bugging me for a very long time. I can't remember the exact name of the programme, but I have a good early memory of a morning children's TV show called something like 'The Early Bird show'. From what I remember, the show was hosted by a green, pointy faced bird puppet, called Early Bird, that I think wore a red trucker's cap.
There were also cartoon idents of animation featuring a cartoon version of the green bird, one I remember showed a pair of telephone poles and lines with birds on them. A giant green bird then landed on the telephone line, catapulting the other birds off the line.
There were cartoons also on the show, and I distinctly remember the Laurel and Hardy cartoon being one of the cartoons shown but I do not remember others.
I was born in Germany in 1986 and lived there until the age of 3 as my Dad was in the British Army. However, I don't remember if I was in Germany or the UK at the time this programme was shown. The memories are definitely very early in my childhood and it is a very likely it could have been while I was in Germany, and may have been shown on Forces TV. The latter is a complete guess though but I do also have clear memories of the Forces TV being really dull. The programme was in English language.
Now this is the important bit, this was not the show that aired in Australia with the same name and around the same time. I've looked at footage of that programme and it isn't the same. Also, I have never been to Australia.
I have very clear memories of this programme and I'm not misremembering, especially as there's no other way I'd have been aware of the Laurel and Hardy Cartoon. It's just odd that I can't find anything online about this programme despite having very clear memories of the short sections I can remember.
Anyway, this is doing my head in because I distinctly remember the programme, the ident and one of the cartoons that was shown. Anyone else out there remember this programme?
